O/T- Possible new job offer. Dealership vs. Independent

    I think technician is more of a universal ***le where mechanic is to be an expert at mechanical things.
    Using Construction as an example since I'm more familiar....
    Drywalling isn't drywall and framing anymore it's "interior systems" there are rockers, tapers, framers, ceiling men, computer floor persons.

    There is the heavy highway division, Interior systems, building division (commercial), Shoring, residential carpenters,
    some carpenters do a bit of everything but most specialize and we are all still carpenters both journeymen and apprentices. We also have a bond with other skilled trades as all being technicians.

    There are millwrights,welders, steelworkers, glaziers, painters, computer repairmen(not programmers), electricians, and many more. we are all technicians. A technician is any skilled trade position exclusive of executive, management, accounting, engineering, scholastic, sales, labor, consultant, legal, or other non technical branches of a companies personnel divisions.
