O/T...Pray for my neice....and all the others who serve....

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by A32Flathead, Jun 14, 2006.

  1. My wife's folks had a disturbing call the other night, our Neice who is in the US Army, stationed in Baghdad....she was in tears & very distraught....couldn't tell us why (security reasons) but kept repeating over & over....bring me home..... :(

    Poor kid, she's only 19 :(

    Thanks....

That would have been a very hard phone call. The secrecy only makes it worse. I get phone calls from my brother telling me he's going somewhere with something (he's an armorer) that's all he can tell me. I know it could be important when he bothers to call me. I hope you get her back soon.

Prayers continuing for all of our uniformed patriots. they go in harm's way voluntarily now but the danger is great and the reality only truely sets in when your in combat.

Amen. I stared at this screen a long time trying to figure out what to say. Something that balances the patriotism we should all feel with a deeply felt need to say what needs to be said and considering the ease with which people get pissed off in our polarized society. The closest I can get: Thank God for all the brave men and women who volunteer to do whatever is asked of them by the people who run our government...regarless how idiotic and wrong-headed those people may be.

  23. But to all of you that have loved ones serving, they are in my thoughts every day, and have my deepest respect.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Jen has a good heart and enlisted last June knowing that she would most likely be sent over after Boot Camp. She knew it would be rough, and most of the time she's ok. You know, we all have good days and bad days. I just think she really wasn't quite prepared for what she would see and might have to do. Of course, as dave stated, she doesn't tell us much (security reasons), but we figure that this last week was an extremely bad one for her. (She is a gunner).

We are looking forward to seeing her come back in January.

We are looking forward to seeing and hearing about all our Hero's coming home, safe and sound. In the meantime, no matter what your opinion regarding politics or the war, please support all those who are serving our great country- home and abroad.

This is a great group I have personally been working with (sending packages, and letters, etc.) called Operation S.A.M. (Support All Military). They are based in the Bay Area/East Bay.

If you have the opportunity, please take some time to check out their website, or your local support group and see what kind of programs, or support they are offering.

Please get involved. These men and women (and their families) appreciate all that we do for them.

Thank you again for your thoughts and prayers.

A very proud Auntie - Ginger

I'm sorry to hear that your niece is going through this, however, I'm not surprised. Everyone has a braking point. If she a gunner, we can only imagine what she had to do to another human being as part of her duty to this country. Solders forced to carry out their duties will usually have a delayed reaction to what they've done. During the heat of the battle you go numb and are focused on the task at hand. Once the adrenaline wears off they start thinking about what happened. Sounds like the point that she may be at. You may want to contact the American Red Cross and ask them for help. They can get to the company she's with and request help, like spritual or physicological counseling. You all need to talk this through and, of course, stay behind her all the way. May God's grace be with you all.
