Was wondering if anyone was gonna mention DI...they fuckin' ruled. "I like guns, and guns like me!"

This thread brings back WAY to many memories...even growin' up in a small Midwest city with absolutely NO access to shows of any sort, we still tried to get our hands on all the good shit we could. Didn't get all the shit some of you coast guys did, but we did our best.

Still remember the first time I heard "My War" with Henry on vocals...blew me away. Or getting sucked into the whole hardcore scene with Youth or Today, Agnostic Front, Gorilla Biscuits, etc. The Exploited kicked ass and pissed off everyone I knew, so that made it even cooler.

And of course, sitting in my room at all of eleven or twelve years old and listening to the Clash. I doubt anyone will ever top Joe Strummer and the boys in my mind. Original is always best.

GRAY MATTER was on dischord records in the late eighties.... believe I saw them on tour with fugazi, around 87.

    [/ QUOTE ]

fugazi was intense, good fry music... ian mckay(sp?) knew how to tear shit up.. any of you seen them play in SF a couple yrs back? was a free show along with some local bands. i remember that day...missed it, was too hung over to move...

Nate, The Revillos rule, forever will be in my top ten.

    Saw them too.

TG, yeah that was Punk Rock fer sure. 'Hot on the Heels of Love' that's a fucking song.

  7. Let us not forget 'Hamburger Lady'. I wonder what Cosey Fannie Tutti looks like now. She was pretty hot 25 years ago. Revillos/Rezillos are big faves of mine. They never played Fla. though. I got a shitload of 45's I gotta sell one of these days.

here's some trivial data- Alan Forbes from Rezillos has brought back the inline 4 Indian. it's a project he's been involved with for years. apparently it's been worked out that he handles the I4 version in Europe.

    TG is AOK.

can't believe there's no mention of Midwestern punk- Naked Raygun, Effigies, Breaking Circus, Rifle Sport, Big Black, Strike Under, Husker Du, to name a few....it didn't all happen on the coasts, England, or DC.

    Voodoo,
pardon my ignorance, but what band were you with at the time?

the Huskers and my band knew each other well- they liked pills a lot back then [we're talking between the Statues single and Metal Circus was when I'd see them regularly] and many times there were perhaps a dozen or so folks in the Entry. seemed like we all knew each other, Lori Barbero was always there. man, things were great back then.....Mpls was a great place.....back then.

here's one of my heroes: the young D Boon.

That pic of The Cramps is cool. I just read in the latest Mojo that they are going on tour again. Sure hope they drops by over in my little corner of the globe.

Otherwise, let me recommend a norwegian punkband of today; The Mormones. Two guys; drums and vocals/fuzzbass. Short songs, lots of kickass bass-sound, lyrics for some reason revolving around Pontiac GTOs, not easy to mix up with anything else I have heard. I think their website is www.mormones.net

  17. FA, I was in the VOODOO IDOLS out of Tampa. I didn't see any pills but; lets put it this way; lots of dirty arms.

Grant's arm, no doubt.....rightly or wrongly, he got a lot of the blame for the band's breakup.
