Im a newb to the site so forgive me if im DEAD wrong but coments like this. makes me think some people have Crate engines in there car. Thats not hot rodding...... thats wannabe hot rodding. IMHO..... I cant leave anything alone. Everything I own is modified to some extent. any true hot rodder CAN'T tell me the only thing they own that is modified in any way is there car. if it is your living a lie. well that wasnt necessary...and no i dont own One crate engine in anything i own..just seemed like you were spending way too much time on an insignificant thing like a B&S engine when you should be working on building a Hot Rod or custom..after all that is what this site is all about.
For those of us with 12+ inches of snow on the ground this time of year, we need to move the snow to get to the shop and work on our rides.
you FNG's never cease to amaze me..he obviously spent the time screwing with a 2 dollar engine for some time before the snow hit..maybe him and you should join a Traditional snow blower building site? I was also working on fixing my snow blower 2 weeks ago but i didnt post it on here.
hmmmm. . . june of 2007 join date? Welcome to the HAMB noob if you'd bothered to READ the ***le of the thread, you'd have KNOWN it was an O/T post Scotch, wasnt bustin your seeds dude, nor anyones for that matter just i have done dip**** moves like mix fuel by pourin' stuff into the tank of a hot motor inside and learned a valuable lesson on the cheap
maybe but ive been here long enough to know this dont fit..especially with out O/T..in the ***le..and i know I would never get away with posting this with out getting some **** for it.
small engine also could have ment small C.I....small as in model of an engine..many things..many that may have been on topic..not a Briggs and stratton lawn mower engine pinging because he milled the head down too much.
This place is tame compared to what it once was, we used to slaughter a random noob once a month just to keep in practice try posting a VERY on-topic video of a hot rod doin a ****in burnout some time...
I did just post a nice video of a blown 32..was nice..so was she.. I know it is tame..wasnt this tame when i joined.. i guess i still have shell shock from my hazing..lol but i do see where he added the O/T so it helps get them straightened out if you point em in the right direction..now doesnt it?
That whole 'don't do a burnout in your neighborhood' scene with Fiddy's Willys was hilarious and shameful...what are Briggs engines doing on the forum?

Ran 4-cycle karts years ago and we never ran a flywheel key. Use some med. valve grind compound on the crank taper and flywheel bore and lap the two together.Clean it real good(choke cleaner) and set the flywheel where you want it without using a key.Cinch down the flywheel nut with a 3/8" impact and it will stay wherever you put it.We used a degree wheel to set it exactly where we wanted it,but moving the flywheel back(retarding the timing) about 1/16-1/8" will work.
1/2 the width of the keyway is a good place to start. We used to run 1/4 midgets w/ 3 hp,and also 5 hp briggs . and always need to advance the timing. Retard the cam and advance the spark. Another trick that got me thrown out of our club was to slot the cylinder head bolt holes in the head and move the head more over the piston olny by like .070, this gave a lot more room for the air to flow over the edge. really woke the little guy up. But they made a rule against it. Frank (Briggs are hot rods, too)
Just to stay off topic, here's a picture of a home made connecting rod for a 3-1/2 hp Lawson (techumse) It uses an insert rod bearing from a continental-deco motor. And had a small oil pump driven off the cam gear, and presure fed mains and rod bearing. Frank
Thanks for the ?Tip Ill keep that one in mind. as well. and for some that dont agree with this post a little taste of some of my little bit bigger engine Ideas. How about a 454 running with out a distributor. ignore the lifter tick. thats gone as im putting a roller cam in it currently. vid was durring mock up but is the most visual http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zokjO2aULIM So yes I waste my time piddleing with ****and I like it
Up date ..... Well we had snowfall. And the octane made the difference. It was only 3" so I was going fast to load it. well theres enough torque to let the weakest link go. I Blew the Drive chain apart. It put a 1/2" dent in and mangled the chaingaurd as well. Gotta wait for the impliment dealer to open monday now. oh well. Its running good though What do you supose will break next Thanks for the replies.
I didn't want to jinx you by throwing this in last week, but since the chain is gone, here's the part you really need:
