Anyone have some recommendations for some rocking surf music? Honestly don't even know where to start looking, and I figure a few of you would have some good suggestions. If anyone asks me if I've heard of the Beach Boys, I'll have to pop ya. ;)

The Detroit guys will know Elvis Hitler (not so surf) but he's a bit harder than surf. Another great one is Snake Out. Len Puch has a 'myspace' site and says he plans to some day put the Snake Out music on there. I have a few old c***ettes that don't play anymore, they were by Garageland Studios I think (owned and operated by Len). He does some cool grille shells now.

I don't know if you'd consider it good or not but I listen to The Ventures Fans Radio on Yahoo Music quite a bit. I don't know if this will work or not, but I'll give it a shot.Go here and click on The Ventures Fan Station.

And no one mentioned the Hellacasters? Surf meets spy movie music with playing that will impress real musicians. Check those guys out! Can't help but get stuff done in the garage when the Hellacasters are on the player.

Buddy Holly didn't play surf music. He was great, though…

  17. I see the Ventures already listed & my other favorite not listed yet is Jan & Dean - you can find their CD's at amazon.com + of course The Beach Boys. Other lesser known surf/car bands; The Ripchords + Ronnie & The Daytonas. I liked the surf music because of the basic themes of cars, women and of course the beach.:D Gary 4T950 Chevy Guy

surfmusic.com will give you a nice variety of stations and kinds of surf music from which to choose.

  27. If you can find MOM (Music for Mother Ocean) #3, there is a collaboration bewteen Brian Wilson (The Beach Boys) and Brian Setzer, doing the most rockin' version of "Little Deuce Coupe" I have ever heard... if that doesn't get you moving, you are clinically dead...
