Whats so fucking amazing about that? must be a yank invention.................................only they could waste so much time and money badly replicating what a Mule can do and has done for thousands of years.

I've seen 'Terminator', and I know what'll happen in a couple of years. Be afraid. Be very afraid. Can you imagine that thing coming after you, with your DNA in it's hypersensitive smelling nostril, armed with a mini-cannon?

C'mon, guys! You been livin' under a rock?!

My guess is, it's nothing more than a large scale R/C robot, and it's got electronic stabilizing gyros from an R/C helicopter. A little hydraulics for the leg action, and you all run for the hills with your tails between your legs?!

Like Ahnold said in "Predator"....."If it bleeds, we can kill it". It will bleed hydraulic fluid and fuel.

Sheesh! As amazing as some of you are with your automotive engineering and fab skills, and you can't figure that "bug" out. Ya oughta be ashamed of yourselves.

Im most impressed by the reactions people have to this thing..the most amazing endorsement of this technology is that some guys said "hey dont kick it!" that means that by virtue of its movement it has developed empathy in its observers..that is probably its most powerful attribute, that our senses actually equate it with something alive
    that is fucking amazing.

I wonder if this is a small-scale model of a full size walking machine?

You know, maybe they're building a full size one with a body the size of a VW bug or something, that guys can ride in. That would be neat. Would have to get a quieter powerplant, though. You aren't going to sneak up on anyone with a 2-stroke!:D

Or, just mount a chain gun on the little one, and call it a day. Give it heat-sensitive targeting cameras, and let 'er rip!

340 lb payload? Imagine the looks on your co-workers' faces when you ride up on THAT thing!

    Nick,
Thinks we're not far off from the Terminator!

Armed to the teeth, remote viewing, GPS. This thing will/does cause a deep seated fear. Slap a NWO sticker on it.

Imagine that thing with a big laser slicing trees down while it tried to hit you, as you're running for your life. Robotics has really made some technology leaps lately.

  26. That's not the point.
Think of the "technology" in our 45+ year old cars as compared to those of today.
A lot of us can remember no or B&W TV, no internet, no cable, no satellite, no GPS, no cell phones, no computers and the list goes on and on.
I was on 2 Nuclear Subs and this thing scares the shit out of me.
Look at who's funding its development.
More and more we're letting the machines do the fighting for us, on the battlefield.
Maybe we're engineering our own destruction.
The Terminator may not be as far fetched as you think.
Bring one of these after you remote operated, with thermal imaging and heat seeking capability, heavily armed and constructed of some of today's toughest alloys.
Anything in your gun cabinet going to stop it? Not hardly.
Imagine something like this heavily armed in a terrorist's hands.
The fact that people "feel sorry" for the thing being kicked makes it even more scary.

I love it, just stick a stinger on it, a couple of machine guns, and go after those rag-heads

  28. Metal storm, a great Aussy invention that our government said they couldn't afford. The US government said they couldn't afford not to own it.
Now we are looking at buying it from the US, my government is full of near sighted old fools, and it recently got worse.

    Doc,

It isn't just your government. For what it is worth, before I got hurt, I was USAF. I worked on some very wild stuff that still has not made it out to the public arena. I was put out to pasture in Jan of 2000 after 10 years in. Imagine how far they have come since then.

Amazing how close this technology is to being an unmanned killing machine. Yet if used for peaceful ends, could make human life so much better. Imagine that software used for a pair of mechanical legs to enable someone to walk again.........
