The best thing about living in a neighborhood of *****s? *****s sure throw away some interesting stuff on garbage day. Here's a few pieces of neighborhood "curb trash" the lovely and enterprising Mrs. Zenor has recently obtained: First, a gl***-top Danish table...
You could pay your mortgage out there if you sold that st uff out here I love crusing alleys just before trash days
Mike - my Great Gramdma made a living cruising the alleys in North Park collecting stuff for her garage sales... she had the coolest stuff!
Tell me about it, but now the city wont allow you to put trash by the curb, or the'll send you a hefty fine but before that I found some really cool stuff, like my schwinn stingray I found a huffy slingshot 5 speed once too, and sold it on ebay for a nice price. All sorts of neat stuff, those are just my two best finds
wondered where that fahrplace came from.....daaang! NYC and Brooklyn also weekly toss out their share of neat stuff. every week it's like Krazy Daze 'cept it's all free.
that table looks more like an art sculpture.I live in a college town so every year during graduation people go through the stuff the kids leave on the curb.Everything from good furniture, electronics,to who knows what. They just leave it all behind. The college is a tad hard to get accepted to so i'm betting most of the kids parents are rich enough they don't want to "h***le" with moving it.
You would not believe what the yuppies throw away around here! Went to the dump (transfer station)today with a van load of carpet I removed for a customer, I always check the "Free Pile" when I back into the dump bin area. Got a near new Gateway computer and a 80 pound bag of gravel mix today. The last bag the manager saw after the jerk threw in 5 other unopened bags. Got a Triumph Bonneville out of the metal bin once.Always great to be there at the right time.
That table is great and looks like it matchs the rest of the decor well. One of my new hobbies is selling old sinks on eBay. Yes, sinks. It's amazing how many sinks I find here just from remodelling jobs. These are old cast iron and procelain sinks that fetch reasonable money. I've found some neat stuff. I also collect other architectural salvage, use what I can, and sell the rest off.
That's how i got my 97's. Iwas talking bto one of my neighbors, and he sez,I got two old cabbs on the shelf in the garage.I can't remember what they fit or what I was gonna put them on. So I sez, sure I'll take a look. He hands me two 97's,wrapped in plastic bags. When I took a good look,I found they were rebuilt and ready to go.I just replaced the gaskets, bolted them on my flathead and thet ran great!Best part was,I saved them from going to the DUMP! The yard sales in my town, people practically give a way auto parts. I would say 50/50 on the current to vintage scale. couple weeks ago, I got a steering column, power steering rack and rare Tri-five power steering unit/alternator combo for $10. Cant beat that.
Wow, lucky duck. I never find much here, most yard sales just wanna sell me more clothes and such. And now that stupid rule about not putting things at the curb, and at the drop off stations they won't let you take anything out.
