O/T What a gal! A Definite Keeper

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by GotRust, Apr 16, 2007.

  1. Last week I was working on the yard with the girlfriend. She grabbed to mower and headed to the frontyard and I took the edger to the backyard. When I finished the backyard I walked up front and on the corner of the yard was a 3/8 rachet and sparkplug socket. How did that get there I wondered?

She had trouble getting the mower started so she went into the tool box got the proper tools, pulled the spark plug, put some gas on it, and fired it up. Now she had seen me do that once and she decided to fix it herself.

She surprises me now and then. She once spent 6 hours polishing the wheels on the '39.

O/T but I just had to brag.

Thats cool, mine's like that too. She rebuilt the 350 in her Nova, runs real good. Likes the cl***ic cars, the '50 Burb is hers when it's done. She helps me on it when she can, and never *****es about the parts bill!

Ya gotta love her...any woman that is into the lifestyle and supportive of your hobby/addictions, is worth her weight in chrome speed parts..my girlfiend (we've known each other since 1968) just announced she was going to take a cl*** at community college for upholstery, shes already good at it, she used to make me leather pants...

I'm just happy mine leaves me alone about the car stuff. That's all I ask.

To not ***** about it is a great improvement over previous gals.

Must be why I married this one.

Mine is now looking really hard for an affordable '70-'73 Camaro. Went to the Charlotte show this weekend, and after scouting around, she was telling me what was wrong with each car, why they were overpriced, etc. and wanted me to make sure her opinion of them was accurate--it was, and I was damn impressed. (I asked her to marry me shortly after she told me she changed the head gaskets on her first car--a '73 Camaro).
After the show, she spent a couple hours on ebay looking at them...and has come to the conclusion that she'd like more of a project car "so I can work on it myself...it'll mean more that way, rather than just buying a nice driver. I'll have more pride in it."

    Damn I love that woman!

My wife (we've known each other since 9th grade) used to date a paint and body guy, and learned quite a bit from him - even though I'll probably go to jail if I ever meet him (a long story). Anyway, she knows more about doing bondo and sanding than I do, and I'm happy to defer to her prior knowledge. In fact, I just bought her a '57 Chevy Wagon, and she'll do most of the body work on it herself.

We've been married now almost 2 years, and have been living together for 4, and I'll have to admit it - this one's the keeper. I've tried the rest, and this one's the best!

    I don't speak much Mexican.

But that's alright because he knows how I like my bush trimmed.......guess that makes him a keeper.

I had my 62 Buick shipped out here in SoCal from MN. The car is in decent shape, but not worth the extra $$$ to use an enclosed trailer. My mother-in-law was there when they loaded it...not happy they were using an open trailer and ended up talking the driver into rearranging the cars so it could go on top. Who else has a mother-in-law that cares that much about your car?

Hmm, my wife saw me working on my '30 coupe one day and decided she wanted the kitchen remodeled. I tore out all the cabinets over the weekend, I'd rather be working on my car.

  25. If we had more step parents and step kids like these two we would have a lot fewer family problems and a lot more cool rides. I bet that sight made you very proud.

Mines pretty cool too. I don't have to worry about hurting her feelings, she's a former Marine, and I have the bruises to prove it. She's a FireFighter, ParaMedic. Two years ago she broke her hip, and a year later she was bringing a 170 LB man down a 40' ladder. She can do rough carpentry and drywalls. She's got her own tools and last year she rebuilt the engine on her 70 F100. She prefers to mow the lawn, says it's cheaper than going to a gym. She's got great secretarial skills and handles all the finances. She even makes sure that my hot rod credit card has a little extra in it. She's the one that found my 52 F1 at the junk yard. Is SHE a keeper??? I'm damn lucky to be here.
