hey i got a BETTER one for ya, how about you buy something off someone.....they ship it........you open it, and there is a sticker for less than HALF of what you paid the person for it...........at least take the sticker off so i dont feel like my ass hurts...haha.

i mean, i was happy with the price, believe me. until you open and see a peice of masking tape on it with 25$ written in sharpee! haha.

im going to do that just to tick people off i think.

Too funny! I go on gut feeling. I will give lots of stuff away and won't sell some stuff to certain people at any price. When I go to swapmeets I have left a pile there before. It's usually shit I'm done with. I gave a kid a nice bell housing this week because he was broke. I didn't need it. TP

I've just had this conversation with a few people. Seems like everyone's broke these days. I've been trying to sell some stuff and can't get anyone interested that has the money to pay. Last year I couldn't put shit for sale fast enough to satisfy the demand. I might need a new line of work.

Money is real tight for some people, and $30 can be a lot for some. I have no problem with someone asking me to hold something, hell I've had it asked and held it and they never got back with me or returned PM's, i say give the kid a break.....

I don't see what the big fuckin deal is obviously your not broke since you can look down on kid that has less money than you. Give a kid a break. It's not like he asked you to ship it before payment. I can see not holding a several hundred dollar item for someone but it's a $30 dollar part that would obviously help him out more than you need the money. Fuckin A, it doesn't hurt to ask. Well unless someone puts a post about broke mother fuckers and makes you feel like an ass for asking a simple question. Atleast you didn't drop his name.

when I was going to college, working at the junkyard, it was rare that I would have $30 to my name that wasn't needed for food and gas. Fortunately those days are long gone

For me, it depends on the person. The people that know me, know I would front it to the kid. Shit, most people that know me have more of my parts on credit than I have in my garage. Pay me if you sell it. And if it's a straight cash deal and you don't have it now, take it, if you run and call me a sucker behind my back, I'll find you.

I had one thing years ago where I flat out refused to sell a guy a car because he couldn't afford it. It was a one owner ('cept me for 500 miles) 65 Catalina convertable. Nice car, but it needed a frame, it was rusty and repaired once. The sheetmetal was good with decent paint, but the car wasn't safe. The guy begged me to come down $800 so he could get it. He told me a sad story about scrounging up the cash. I felt he would drive the car into the ground. He was NOT a car guy. He just wanted a cool cruiser. He had some cash from a settlement of some kind if I remember right. It was none of my business, but I held back.

Today, I would patch the frame for the guy and sell it to him cheap. Back then I had no welder, otherwise I would have kept it longer myself. I'm sure that guy would have enjoyed that car more than the jerk I ended up selling it to.

I haven't thought about that in a long time. My attitude is completely different from when I was 19. I think I need a hug... -Which way to the champagne room?

I have to say, If you haven’t got the money don’t try to buy shit. Building a car can be expensive, my A model is in the garage and hasn’t been touched in two years, why?? I’m on a Veterans Affairs pension, the fuckers keep cutting the amount I get. Right now I am being kicked out of my home, cant pay rent on $60 per fortnight. I’m an invalid and cant work at just 34 years old.
I’m not looking for sympathy just highlighting that not everyone has the ability to cough up $30 bucks that easily.
Still, unless he has the money he should not be asking for something.
    That’s my rant.
    Doc.
