Have you guys seen that recent tally on the pot so far ? $ 1200 in cash $ 1000 in gift certificates plus an awesome group of prizes !!! Hey Larry, are you finished with that Kleenex?
Highway 101 Rod and Custom will donate a pair of wide five adapters in whatever bolt pattern you want. 5x4.5, 5x4.75, 5x5.5 to the winner of tech week. Here is a link to my tech week article. Jim Ford http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/tech-week-how-to-fill-trim-holes.993379/
I'll donate my 39 year old Jim Beam bourbon decanter depicting the 1975 Gurney Eagle Indy Car. It's 20 inches long and the bourbon is still in it, none ever used. The paper seal has rotted off the cap but the bottle has never been opened. I'll ship this to the 1st Place winner. PM me with the address. Doug
I posted these recently also. Remove early Ford drums from hubs without cutting staked studs. 32 Ford trunk drains
So I was wanting to contribute something for tech week, but I couldn't come up with any super cool parts etc....so, I have decided to donate 2 each Hot Rod Hundred Tshirts for the pot, in the name of the CrossMembers Car Club. This artwork is done by my good friend and hot rod superhero, Jeff Norwell. Whoever wins will need to email me their sizes and I will ship them out. I will be on vacation for a couple weeks, so be patient.
Great stuff and thanks for posting... but unfortunately to be eligible for this contest all threads need to be new and posted between Oct 1st and 15th of 2015.
I'll put up $100 for #1 and $50 for #2. I like the idea for runner-up prizes...I had to judge tech week winner once, long ago, and I know there are always 5 or 10 that could EASILY be selected as #1. If a winner rings my bibliographic bell, I will toss in some CL***IC LITERATURE from the secret bunkers of the writings of the ancients that I feel will fit in with the winner's mindset...the prizes should stimulate the brain as well as the welding-rod budget! Bruce
I posted this in the other thread, but lets put it here too..... I've got some trinkets to add as well. I'd suggest these go to the second and third place winners to ease that bitter taste of defeat (or the close but no cigar!).. For third place, a short sleeve MP&C shop t-shirt in our signature yellow with fancy logo on the back. Now your wife/gf/significant other can find you in the crowd at any show! I am presently out a few sizes but have a reorder in with my shirt place at this time, so we can accommodate up to **XL size. For second place, let's call this a "patch panel kit". One 4' x 8' sheet of 19 gauge AKDQ steel, perfect for making a few patches or even a full panel/fender. For this prize, if you live close enough to pick this up in person, it will be left in one piece or I have a 4' shear that we can cut it to your liking. If it needs to be shipped, it will be cut into multiple pieces to fit inside a flat rate game board box, or approx 23-5/8" x 11-5/8" in size..
Hey at the start of this thing I offered to come up with something to help prize wise. So after much deliberation I have decided that I am going to give a Ford F-100 and trailer along with a '40 Ford sedan as my offering for prizes. OK so it isn't a real car and truck but what did you expect I have opened the original box and it appears to all be there except for the Testors glue and paint. And just for grins and a little drama (in a good way) I will slip something else of historical value in the box. A surprise so to speak.
As told to me by an old hotrodder... The tech part is that you have to clean the hole and kill the nerve first using battery acid on a cotton swab , before you add the JB weld, The hard part is holding your mouth open long enough for it to set without gluing your jaws together.
OK, im putting it up....3d printed T-rex skull investment cast in white bronze. (weighs 1.75 lbs) Umm, what place though?? Eh, ill put it up for fourth place......every body wins!!
Any possibility of a thread where people can post tech articles they'd like to see? I'm sure there are some talented individuals out there who would like to contribute but don't have any ideas on what to do!
You could Post a tech request right here. Why not? Might just fan the flames a bit and get those creative juices flowing. There's a lot of great tech on the site and I mean a lot!!! Searching it out is kinda rough because its mixed in with nearly 10 million other posts. It used to be segregated and in a tech archive.
I did, but it kind of just got lost in the mix. Someone mentioned on the thread that requested a tech week that they would do one on re-curving Mallory dual points.......I'd still like to see that. Aside from that I can't think of anything and that's what prompted asking if we could have a thread, preferably a sticky, with tech requests. As far as the tech archives, they were great! I had a few in there myself. Can the tech archives still be accessed?
