It's a vertex magneto in a 2 to 1 ratio side drive housing. Was used back in the day on an Offy.

  2. Sports Coupe. Harold has one other pic of it- after he was hit by a switch engine. It demolished the car, but he came out with only a few bruises and scrapes. He showed the pic to me about 3 years ago and I didn't think to scan it at the time. I'll ask again though.

  3. Great thread and great job Bobby. Thanks for the reminder. You guys are so far beyond anything I could ever imagine. Keep rockin'.

  4. I did- thought that maybe the article was new and shiny and your pics were of the "properly used and abused" stage :D

Great to see your efforts pay off- cangratulations again!

I want to build an intake to run a 94 on my Model A, Can anyone tell me or have there been any posts on how to do this? My main concern is makng sure the fuel mixes right and I don't run one runner too lean.

just curious, but you guys running 39 ford tranny conversions in your model A's, are you running trans mounts with them, or are they just hanging like the model A trans does? what are some exeriences?

Here is a guy that sells a kit. Maybe you can get some ideas from him.

Thanks for posting the old time picture guys.

    Bill,
I want a Tudor so bad I can taste it. Your pictures aren't helping me cope with those urges.

HOLY CRAP.... 3 hrs to get the head so it will fit. I had to remove the front pulley and push on the engine till the crank hit the frame but it worked. now I wont a 2pc pulley:D
What do you put on the studs? So I can get the head off latter.
    thanks Bill

I'm sure it was well on it's way out prior to the hardware "cake" run. Good luck with the rebuild.

Well after 10 years of being lent out my engine hoist is coming home. Plan on pulling the banger and trans and storing out of the way until the chassis is rebuilt over the winter.

Just wondering if anyone has built and engine dolly, looking for some ideas. I'm thinking a couple 4x4's and some heavy duty casters sould do the trick.

  15. Yes, she is sitting in the other room as I write this. Been together for 55 years. When we used to go to car shows she was known as the "Ramp Lady"! Before we were married and still in high school she would cut gaskets for my Matchless 30/50 (500) single or " Thumper" as they were called. I owned a AJS before that. In fact, I bought a 1949 125 Czech (Jawa) from her brother when I was 14. (no parts available for it because of trade embargo with communist countries)

  16. I bought that particular car twice!

  17. That's when you know you've found the right one- when she's willing to help on the projects.

I went to the well again and came back with some more goodies.

Bill's pictures of the dual side drafts convinced me to get another carb.

Yep, call Matt. My header came from there. We worked out the design and he made it perfect. Matt makes them with intakes too. Pretty sure Crazydaddyo got part of his there too.

Flow bench and dyno test in racing industry consistantly show that a plentum with runners coming into it (which allows the engine to suck the fuel mixture in as it needs) produces the most power. trick is to get fuel atomized and into suspension in that plentum. another words in basic terms...build a box with carbs on top. but that's certainly not traditional looking.

Bobby....that is super! congrats on the records! wish i could have been there to see it this year. What was your closest competition this year?

That is the timing gear end of the cam.

  25. Looks like they drove something Oil pump or Tach. I have one that has Winfield Super stamped on the end. If I remember correctly it has about .365 lift.

  26. I have a correction, the idle tubes seem to be common in a letter size as B BB but not all sizes are the same through all of the sizes. I have some stamped BB that are the same as the one's stamped B.

One the subject of using the next size float chamber to solve stumbling I don't think they change the jet size.

Winfield must have had a tolerance on the drill sizes as I have found slight variations when checking sizes with pin gauges.

Ya, I thought the same thing about the slot too. Probably not an ignition drive be cause it isn't off center.

<style></style>The intake lift is .323" and the Exhaust lift is .365" at the cam.

I don't know the timing or duration yet. Intakes look like they have a lot of duration.

  29. Possibly for an "F" head

I recently received some literature on a "new" kit for pressurizing an "A" block. My source didn't send me all of the literature package but I made contact this AM. If anyone is interested I will post an email address for the manufacturer of the Kit when I get the balance of the literature.
