Moon used to make a timing cover for Cads in the 60's.Dont know if anyone mentioned Detroit Racing Equipment, and the Horne 4X2 intahe that later became the Cragar 4x2 intake.Detroit racing was the first to really focus on OHV Caddys in the early 1950's.I have owned a few of those super rare dual quad intakes. The best intake manifold ever designed for the 49-62 Cad engines was the Weiand Dual Quad 2nd design drilled for the AFB carbs.Tried them all and that one made the most power.

I have a NOS Edelbrock 4x2 and would be willing to use that as leverage to find a later weiand 2x4 or Detroit Racing 2x4.

Yeah that staggered Edelbrock 4x2 looks cool but wasnt too effective.I haven't seen a Detroit Racing intake pop up for sale in a while now..keep checking Ebay though, if its out there chances are it will show up there, also check Hemmings motor news.

I've got a buddy who helped out on a dragster with a caddy in it, he says they used to throw the "shit" on the roof of the the shop cause they got tired of trippin over it.

Those WEIAND V/Cs are my favorites......SUPER rare and not being reproduced. I've been hunting for caddy stuff for several years.... I've only seen those valve covers once in person.

I also would like to know the history on the Pribble brand.....don't really know much about it. I've seen 3 sets of those in the last 5 years but the owners didn't seem to know too much about them.

Smoljan is another brand of intake manifold that I've never seen mentioned on here. I know they made a 3x2 for Cadillac. My understanding is that they were out of California and were made in the 50s, but then were reproduced at some point.....don't know if it was by Smoljan or another company down the line.

There is a more stuff that we will never see. I have a buddy in touch with the son of Detroit Racing and he's sending some pics of a fuel injection setup that DRE was workin on for Indy racing. I think 1 or 2 were made. Those Weiands are the only reason to take off a pair of script factory covers.

I have a picture of that motor. It was a destroked 331 (276" I think) that was going to be used. It has a very cool aluminum timing chain cover/pump drive and the big injectors. Look like Hilborn 4-71 2 ports that have been cut apart and mounted on the head. I'll see if I can dig it up and see if my scanner works. Mag was printed in 52-53. Cal Connell was DRE and later turned into Cal Connell Cadillac Crusaders, Marine engine conversions. Apparently didn't stay with automotive stuff after early 50s. Guy sounded like a genius!

If you were going to go EFI you won't need the pump anyhow.

So . . . is all this old stuff up on people's shelves? I've got a 331 cad and a historic car to power up - - but it has been stripped of all its steroids and I need to find replacements. I know it ran two 4s. Would that be the Detroit Racing if it last ran in November '53? Can anyone help?

    Lets revive this old thread.

picked this up from the hamb classifieds, you dont get a chance to purchase one of these often so i had to have it. i had 2 sp tops and Moriarity provided me with 2 repop sp's, after a bit of polishing the look good.

Im also looking for a cragar 303 or offy 0303 trans adaptor 55-6 4 caddy to early ford

Yeah, you can't run them in car because they're
cast aluminum and water cooled. Without the
    water, they'd melt!

<EDIT> With apologies to Jeff... What I have is a Cragar 302 adapter to the later 1949-1959 trans.

Jeff, I've got a Cragar 303 available. PM me for details.

Joining the party late here , but the Edmunds finned exhaust were designed for
automotive use not marine. They're cast iron..if you look closely at Kev's picture you can see the rust peeking through
what is probably silver or aluminum paint.
I had a chance to buy a set from a buddy about 10 years ago...too pricey for me.
I think they ended up on some guy's Allard. Here's a scan of an original Edmunds brochure from '49-'50.

Does that have a balance tube between the two sides?
