  1. Cragars have 2 tubes which are 7/8" on each manifold :)

Not long ago I saw a manifold made from a stock 4 bbl that also mounted 4 2CGs. One on each corner sideways so that each port had a dedicated venturi. It had progressive linkage so that it ran on the 4 bbl until 75% throttle and then the other 4 cut in. I was told that Briggs Cunningham had made such a manifold for his LeMans cars around '49-'50. The one I saw was made recently in Hayward Calif. and I guess they would make you another one for $$$.

I got these from an old timer today. Hadn't seen a photo posted of these, so...

I wish they didn't have breathers, but they do. I've got to change these breathers out for some better looking ones, ones that don't have a hole drilled for a giant plastic elbow for a pcv.

What trans does this fit? It fits an early 390 on the engine side. Maybe an Olds trans? It certainly doesn't mate to a LaSalle. It doesn't have any markings on it. Any idea who might have made it?

  16. Could be an old Transdapt.?? Any numbers stamped on it like jc-25 etc. I have an old transdapt listing with numbers if it helps. Looks like a early Chevy truck arm possibly. I have a Olds to Chevy transdapt and they use a similar Chevy 6 cyl tk arm fwiw. They only cast a small model number in their castings so it is not easy to find without looking closely.

with that flange there it looks like it was supose to have a mid motor mount plate that bolted between the trans and the bellhousing, it looks like gm 4 speed style bolt pattern, th epart numbers on trans dapt alot of times where on the starter cup area.

Definitely a Trans-Dapt, and there will be a small number cast on it, probably on the starter bulge. The block pattern looks like it's '55-'62 Cadillac.

    Great thread

Not sure if it was mentioned before but Mooneyes still sells the valley covers. I bought mine a few years ago. And Offenhauser still makes the valve covers. I had Vic Hubbard Speed and Marine in Hayward Ca. order them for me about the same time.

I'll look more closely for a number.

I have an M-21 and a T-10 at my shop. I'll check on Saturday for a Chevy pattern.

That circular ridge has me stumped. If it is in fact for a mid-plate, what application would that be for? Could this be some kind of marine setup or for a transfer case? Would a marine setup use a clutch?

Yes, will fit a '55-'62 Cadillac. I've verified that.

No, nothing to do with boats. Trans-Dapt sold two styles of the same adapter---one to be used with a plate steel mount, and one without. This adapter originally had a steel plate that sandwiched between the adapter and transmission and gave you two side mounts so that you could support the engine/trans without a mount for the transmission tailstock.

Then I can just make an aluminum spacer plate to use a trans without the mid-plate then?

I didn't see where anyone in this discussion has mentioned the factory 3x2 and 2x4 manifolds made for this engine.

  26. According to my Transdapt sheets you will be looking for the letters JC ('49-'54), KD ('55-'64) or KE for '65 & up. These will be followed by a one or two digit number which refers to the application notes typically.

  27. Yep!

  28. Just traded my canned ham trailer project for my old '62 390 Cad collection (went away when I traded for my pos 55 Chevy.) Happy as a fly in dung at the moment! Cad mill going into my recently acquired 36 ford coupe.

  29. I am seeking custom cam grind sources.
