That's awesome, thanks for the pic. I need one of these! That sucks about the tranny adapter, now I don't know if I'm going to use that motor anymore. No wonder no one uses those.
These are Cyclone V8 caddy 21 stud heads that are on Kevan Sledge's 32. This car just gets better all the time!
That's a Mercruiser 470 in my avatar. The flywheel was carved by the man with the Boss headed 470. He runs a dyno supply company in Atlanta. He had it in a 150 MPH dragster, sold it where it went into an altered that went upside down on its initial pass and driver retired and sold it for a serious run at a record. Only damage to engine was a corner of the valve cover ground away. The engine was serious, a 1/4" stroker with BBC bearings. He had help from Mercruiser and Jon Kaase.
Wow, this thread is getting fun! Lots of Cad Flat -talk here, thanks. Talking 'bout oddball, here's my friend Tuomo's motorsickle with Citroen 2CV engine...
the gmc v-6 engines for pickups had an adapter on them to accept the chevy bellhousing,at least the automatic ones did. now,on that mecruiser 4 banger with a 460 head,i have a shit load of them,i raced them in a b-ville salt flats racer..i took it out after 4 years to try something else..cool engine! anybody want one or ten? randy
Speaking of 2CV engines - here's the one in my trike. It's has a lightened flywheel, has custom stainless headers and straight thro' exhaust system. It runs a HIF44 SU carb on a custom inlet manifold and has a big oil cooler and extra oil capacity. All 2CV engines are hemi-head design and with the mods this one has 35 BHP at the wheels - about 6 more than a standard one has at the flywheel. It's still good for 60 MPG though. It will run strong all day - I recently did a rally in it and we did 750 miles in 24 hours - engine was not turned off during that time.
Here's my Pontiac OHC six that I'm putting in a '28 Pontiac Tudor sedan.. when I'm done with it I hope for it to be closer to this...
I should have taken notes but, I think this is a W32 Merlin? saw it and a few other airplane engines in a blimp hanger a while ago

Great thread!!!!! lots of cool and informative stuff!! how about one of these in a hot rod? looks like a piece of jewelry
They had one of those 701 GMC's at the Hunnert Car Pileup last year for sale. My grandpa use to work on them at a GMC dealership. He said that they were hard to get at because the first ones were put into cabovers. When you tilt the cab it wouldn't tilt far enough to get to the front of the motor. He also said they were hard to time with the two distributors but when you got them in tuned they ran like a top!!!

This '23 Buick has got a 265 Chrysler hemi inline six, supercharged, with a couple of natural gas mixers on the intake side. Last time I saw pics, I think it had a turbo. It belongs to a guy named Steve in Toongabbie, near Sydney.
