there is an 1932 steel ford b400 around here in sweden that runs an offy engine... way cool hotrod see if i can find some pics check out his site at http://www.larshuber.com/ really talented metal worker, lives like 5 minutes from me...
Well good to see i am not the only guy daring to be different runnin a Pontiac OHC engine. Actually this will be my second one as my 53 Pontiac runs a 67 Pontiac OHC in it as well. This is the radical of the two being a strong runner that will power my 28 Ford sedan project.
maybe if the car was flatblack and the rims where red you would like it? anyhow i like the car alot its really wellbuilt, maybe not the colour of my choice but it sure aint ugly in my world...
yah, that is it! yoyoyo ratrodz to da maxxx! i find the stance and the rims to be the worst offenders, i think it makes it down right ugly. The color, well, (i just dont like it, though it is obviously well painted and detailed). I think a nice set of black wires with black walls, with a less radical rake and a traditional sprint car paint job might set it off. Though a nice set of knock off halibrands might look ok. if it were me, i would have stuffed the engine in a midget nosed rpu, on some wires, sitting on the deck (slight tire rake). painted white with red scallops and a big 4" sewer pipe down one side. just so i can really enjoy that offy!
kruzer63 that A with the pontiac ohc 6 kicks all forms of ASS! i have thought for a long time that would make a great combo! the lake pipes are great! i love it! this is a great thead!!!!!!!!!!!!
also if you are going to run an offy, it really needs a straight pipe...i hope you have surround sound and a rag. http://www.milleroffy.com/offy.rm
A couple of very nice Volvo engines from http://wwwrsphysse.anu.edu.au/~amh110/16_valve_turbo_pictures.htm DFE
Who you tryin' to kid?? Nice and Volvo should never be seen in the same sentence unless it goes like this, "Hey nice to see that Volvo burning to the ground" or "Nice to see you finally got rid of that pox box Volvo"
I have one of these sitting in the garage.... love that head. It's locked up solid, of course. It'll probably end up for sale before too much longer, but if it doesn't sell, it's tempting to at least save the head. I also have a '47 Hudson flat six that's tempting to build. I really tend towards off the beaten path, but not quite as far as some of y'all. I had originally intended on using a '68 GS350 Buick engine for my next project. AMC might have to figure in there too.... 401. hmmmmmm. Anything that makes people scratch their heads and wonder what the hell it is..... is a good thing in my book.
I think it was Hot Rod magazine back in the late 60s that ran a full coverage series of articles on an Altered bantam roadster built for/by an Explorer Scout post with a full house Pontiac OHC 6
1967 volvo wagon w/ 600 hp check it out http://www.seriouswheels.com/cars/top-1967-Volvo-Amazon-600-hp.htm also ford uses a 4.0l I-6 in the ausi falcon is this the same motor? there is a tubro /6spd option!
From what I understand, the Aussie Ford is a highly developed version of the old 250 engine. They've also got a turbo version that pumps out 240kW (over 300hp) and is a real nice bit of gear. Very low boost as well, which means guys crank them up and get stupid amounts of power. How about a Buick straight 8?
I'm trying to find pics and more info. But have any of you guys seen pics or heard about the hemi headed SBC. I read about one a few years ago in a old super chevy magazine. A guy had a rare 69 Z28. The 302 had some hemi style heads chevy was trying to develope on them. Then last year I read about Zora Duntov's dual plug hemi headed all aluminum small journal 377ci sbc. It was developed for a 62/63 corvette grandsport race car. Supposedly it made 500+ hp with 58mm side draft weber carbs. They dropped the hemi heads and ended up going with another style though. http://www.grandsportcorvette.com/gs/power.htm
I had an old Hot rod mag with a 30 something rod with a 340 with the Westlake heads and 4 webber duel down drafts on it. Than was coll to look at, wonder if it ran worth a crap? I'll have to dig it out and scan it
my only experience with the 305 gmc v6 is that it is VERY heavy and it makes ALOT of torque. I helped a friend pull one out of his gmc 1 ton. The first problem we ran into was the engine hoist buried itself in the asphalt. Then we took the heads and intake off and were able to ge the engine out of the truck and move the hoist. After we put the short block on the engine stand we had to add bracing to the engine stand to keep it from collapsing. Did I mention that thing was heavy?
Here is a cool pic of my friends engine at the Finsterwalde Drags/Germany a few years ago. It´s a Jaguar V12 with a handmade Intake and 6 Solex carbs on top. He also handshaped the headers. Imagine what evil sound comes out of there
