...the correct conjugation is: Good Gooder More gooderer ...that is all. ...sent from my Droid device in the back seat of a Greyhound bus, ...rolling down highway 41.
Seeing the full hood on it and sitting on the frame, it really does look great.. I can't wait to see this as a roller.
I had a college professor who would say, "That's more better", or, "... less good"... of course, every other word out of his mouth was, "Ummmm"... John, the bodywork looks great- can't wait to see how things progress!!
Very cool and nice to see it getting a Nailhead. Any other Buick touches being added? A '58 grill would be awesome.
WOO HOO I finally found some time to work on the buick and got the drivers door operational. I ended up using the original hinges with a little modification for adjustment still needed, but at least now it opens and closes real square to the body. one more thing to check off my list. I also found but couldn't buy when I was in Atwood kansas a couple of week ago this nice little buick roadster peddle car. I believe it was between a 26 to 28 model year. He had just got it for his collection and it was out of my price range.
Sweet project If you need a hand with anything , I would love to Help out and check out what you have done. I'm not too far from you !!
I spent the morning mocking up some old fenders and such on the roadster. I am still trying to decide fenders or not, and right now I really do like the fender look on this car, The hood sides will still have to be removed for the lake pipes, but other than that. who knows as I said before. It's still early. What ya think?
Hope you have enough room in that roadster for your knees, it looks like it is channeled pretty deep!
It aint channeled at all. It's just the way the fenders and running boards sit on it. Plenty of room inside for my old knees. Thanks buddy. I am planning on either rolling the fenders forward a bit and trimming them from the front or bobbing the rear. Yeah, I think the fenders look good on this buick. Thanks.
It's been a long while since I posted anything on this buick probably because I haven't done much. I did get both the doors and trunk hinged. and I am gonna start on the flooring soon. I also found a 40 ford coupe front suspension the other day on craigs list. I am gonna use it on the buick since there was no front suspension on it. I am gonna have to get rid of the orange color though.
That's quite a nice looking roadster with the fenders on it, I hope you do go that way with the build. Doc.
I like it alot! Everything that goes between Hot Rod and Odd Ball is right up my alley. But this looks really good, but are you totaly comitted to full fenders? Dont get this wrong, I like fenders. But it all comes down to the stance/rake. But full fendered buick rod could be so cool. I love the nailhead 401!
Yep it's gonna have fenders. Thanks. The new knees are doing great. I can't run with the big dogs, but I can get off the porch now. Thaks I believe I am heading in the right direction. Just aquired today a a 66 chevy truck steering collumn with nice wheel, and it was a floor shift style so no shift arm to worry about.
I spent a little time shaving all the old spring hangers, crossmembers, front spreader bar and assorted other crap off the front of the frame. I then mocked up the front axle and cut some steel for a new crossmember for the ford suspension. Once the crossmember was lined up and degreed to the front axle and spring I tacked it in place, a new spreader bar was installed on the front, then I cut some boxing plates for both sides of the frame and installed them. I wanted to split the bones to the outside and under the frame, and did not want to heat and bend the spring hanger on the front of the bones this much so I cut a 3/16th wedge from the bones just behind the axle and pulled them to where I needed them and tacked them. I still need to get the threaded bungs and hangers for the bones and then take it all apart to finish weld and strip the old orange hotrod paint off everything.
