The flathead is a supercharged Cord V8 as it came from the factory, the other is a marine engine manifold. The round thing under the carburetor is the centrifugal supercharger. Have seen the marine engine manifold before on a Cadillac engine in a full custom where an extremely low hood line demanded it. But not in a hot rod. They are not very efficient when it comes to breathing and speed but they do lower the engine height.
