History Odd Place for a Custom

    It's not really a custom, but I saw this on the IMCDb page for **** Tracy, the movie from 1990. '39 Chevrolets are such ugly (imo) cars to begin with, but this makes it look not half bad.

    A lot of the cars in this movie were mildly modified to avoid looking like any specific brand, for whatever reason. For example, the weird grille on this '37 Chrysler:

    I'm gonna borrow some photos from the thread "during and pre ww2 customs and rods" for some more inspiration for the 1939 Chevrolet specifically:

    Clearly they were customized, but not very frequently.

    Apparently a ton of work was done during the production of that movie to make things look like an old comic book, including the color palette. Like, everything that's green is the same shade of green, everything that's red is the same red, the way it would look on a printed comic page in the 1940's.

    I'd bet the customizing efforts of the cars were done not to disguise them, but to make them look like comic drawings, which often kinda looked like production cars but not quite.
