Hate to see it change hands, but I can't argue with that DeSoto. Always one of my favs too. Hope someone picks it up and turns it into another lunatic hauler like the Green Mile but with Mopar power.
I love wagons and 2 doors the most. I'm doing some radical surgery on a 59 Rambler American. It's floor pan and rear unibody rails are really rusty so we're going to graft the entire floor pan and firewall from a 76 Nova underneath. It gives us the transmission tunnel and lets us lower it considerably. We'll cut off the front suspension from the frame arms and use a Mustang II crossmember and spring hats.
Model 56A Commuter 2d 6 p***...............4,885 Model 56B Voyager 2dr 6 p***................2,283 That is only 2 1/2% of the total 286,163 Mercurys made in 1957. 1958 was only 1914 for Commuter 2dr and 568 for Voyager 2dr. 1959 was only 1051 for Commuter 2dr and no Voyager 2dr built.
I wanted this one off of Ebay in July 2009 but I couldn't get the funds. A nice guy named Fred sold it - I sure I wish I knew who he sold it to!
Here is my '51 Plymouth Savoy. All Mopar - 318, 904 Torqueflite, Volare rear end. Bought it from the original owner in 1984. I drive this one most of the time. I'm always amazed how many people tell me they have never seen one.
I got this 2 door Comet. Sold new to California without heater but now it does. It's quite rare car I think, 2,121 were made. Is that right?
