History Ode to the flame job

I have done a lot of flame jobs. Here are a few of mine.

 

This is a 1960 El Camino that I had back in the late 80's and early 90's.

So many flame jobs I see look too modern. Too refined. I don't like most of 'em. But I sure like yours. Good job. Please allow me to use your artwork as my inspiration if I put flames on my Plymouth Coupe.

 

I never understood what's the big deal about the Bob McCoy flame job.
Not all that pleasing of a flame layout and a terrible blend/fade.

 

For sure! I basically stole it from another car, myself.

 

Saw this at the GNRS in 2005.Dean Jeffries flame job.Galpin owns it now.

 

Dennis Ricklefs p***ed away July 26, 2026. I didn't realize he did the complete paint and the flames on the Hollingsworth Nomad. He did flames for Boyd, Pete and Chip. There is a good interview on Bang Shift.

 

The last couple years I've been enamored with some "inside out" flames, where the leading pattern is the basecoat

 

Bob Mc Coy's cars flames are the best, kind of "out of control" like a real fire

 

I did my own many years ago , not the best lay out . Babies needed shoes so I did what I could to get flames
