    Hello All:
Is anyone running an Odyssey PC680 w/ a generator (12 Volt)?? If so, have you had charging issues or problems with this battery and a generator??

    Thanks in Advance,

Best to contact Odyssey with your vehicles generator information.
AGMs can get a bit fussy if they are not fully recharged after use, short trips(less than 15mins) will eventually kill the battery as the constant high drains and lack of a full charge will result in diminishing returns.

I wonder since they require a different type of 110 volt battery charger when they are out of the car, if they will only work with an alternator in the car?

AGM 'red top' type batteries are great at discharging(for starting), like to be recharged quickly, and kept fully charged. Problem is most older GEN units put out a max of ~30Amps, which would require quite a bit of engine running/driving to fully charge the battery.

AGMs are sensitive to overcharging. Typical 'wet' batteries can take a bit more abuse, overcharging(overheating) still can harm the plates, but an AGM matrix can be readily damaged from overcharging(overheating) easier. This is why a charger capable of AGM charging is best to use with AGM type batteries, it will sense overvoltages and cut charging. Older style chargers, with an analog gauge, will allow the battery to pull as much juice as it wants without any automated monitoring or safeties.

So..... not a good choice for a battery type if running a generator.

It would be best to contact the manufacture of the battery and speak with the tech department on which, if any, of their batteries would be suited to being used in conjunction with a bonafide commutator using generator. Best to have said generators model and any other info on hand.
