Hey fellas, well, I'm going to Los Angeles for the holidays. There are acouple of guys I'm going to try to meet while I'm out there, but was kind of lookin' for some other stuff I might be able to do. I don't know how much time I'll have, but figured I'd ask what anyone would suggest. I'm getting in on the 20th and leaving x-mas night. I know that we have some plans on that Wednesday, but other than that I really don't have much else planned. I'm not sure what my brother has planned, but just wonered if there was anything else going on.

If you guys have any suggestions or if anyone is going t be around, let me know. Thanks in advance.

If by chance this is your first visit to La La Land, Tinseltown, New Babylon, Paradise, go to Santa Monica or where ever the nearest beach is to where you're staying and GO SWIMMING in the Pacific Ocean on the first day of winter (21st.), just to say you did.
The water isn't that much colder than it is in Summer and the weather is usually in the 70's around that time of year so I'm not talking crazy...
Then tell all those poor guys freezing their tatas in the mid west about it :D

LOL, I do plan to do that. I live in New Mexico, but it's still only been on the 40's here, so yeah, I'll have to get some fun in there.

And Muttley, I'll look for it. Can't beat a good chile burger.

It's been in the low 40's at night here lately cept last night the tropical rain brought it up almost 20 degrees...Yea, that's the LOW not the high.

Tommy's is great! but if you go to the original on Beverly Blvd. go there for lunch, at night it's just not your hood...

(A while back, a friend of mine's cousin was stabbed to death in the Tommy's parking lot on a Saturday night..don't know the details but it's that way some times in a big old city)

Talking about "friendly" places is the "El Escondido Lounge" still open, across the street from "Old Town Albequerque"?
    I usta shoot pool there.
A Marine told me it was off limits to military men because of the fights, I thought it was a friendly bar, so who knows?
This was all a few years ago...

  7. Hit the PINKS hot dog stand in L.A. and also try & hit Felipe's for a sandwich.
Felipe's is near the main train station in downtown L.A. near the main courthouse.
Outstanding beef dips, coffee is still a nickle,& they have a ton of old school candies.
Yeah,,& go to the Santa Monica pier too !

Also try & hit the NHRA motorsports museum.

And don't forget Bob's Big Boy in Talouca Lake, Cruise every Friday night.
    The Peterson Automotive Museum
Flames BBQ in Northridge has a Cuise night every Friday and killer BBQ
Tons of great art museums (even though I allways joke that yogurt has more culture than Los Angeles)
    Venice beach, Hollywood, Malibu
The Golden Gopher in DownTown has the city's oldest liquer license and is allowed to do something no other bar in L.A. is allowed to do...make you a coctail...TO GO!!
Also the Big Foot Lodge, etc., etc.
oh and dress warm, it's freezing out here! I think it's down to something like 50º!! ;)

Alright guys, this is what I want to see. Sounds like some great places to go. I'm hoping to meet up with our own Altered Pilot while I'm there too. Should be a kick ass time. I'm taking my 11 year old son too, should be a nice x-mas.

    from N/A

I went there in October and had a blast making it a hot rodder's weekend out of it.

Hit the Pomona Fairplex to see the NRHA museum.

Donut Derelicts at Adams Ave. Donuts might still be running their Saturday morning cruise-in. That's 6-9AM. Bring money for a t-shirt and some great donuts.

I went to So-Cal in Pomona and got the $0.25 tour with very little begging. They had a lot of sweet projects going on then.

If you're into really fast go-carts, check out Pole Position on Bentley Dr. in Corona. They have the world's fastest rentalble go-carts. They run upwards of 45mph and they have a couple that are tuned to run closer to 60mph. And these little babies are electric indoor carts. They scared the Hell out of me the first time I mashed the trottle. Defianately a must for speed freaks.

    Good luck and have fun.
