I highlight the area where it says "The H.A.M.B." with my computer's mouse, then push the "enter button on my keyboard. Then I scowl down to the "Off Topic" section and push the "enter" button on my keyboard.

    Hello,

Go to the HAMB home page. Scroll down past the GENERAL DISCUSSION title. Find MISC. then, below that title, is what you are looking for as far as Off Topic.

    Jnaki

Sometimes, the HAMB SITE is set at a specific way you bookmarked the site, you many get this view. But, that won’t take anyone to the antiquated portion of the overall HAMB site. Many bookmarks will be directly to this page. Not the above posted version of the HAMB front page.

I get the bookmarked view below. But, I hit the THE HAMB title in RED (blue square) and it takes me to the other HAMB arena that has the ANTIQUATED/OFF TOPIC stuff.

    @daylatedollarshort How's it going? :mad::D:D:D
@34Larry If you have replied to a post there and it has a new reply, you will have the lightning bolt ALERTS on the top right in Red. You can open the thread and then go to the top and go to the section it's in.

Are you using a computer or your phone? When using the phone, I noticed that you can see more stuff on the page (such as signatures) if you turn the phone sideways.

Also, you might try clicking the three dots in the very upper right hand corner. If one of the items in the menu says "Open In Chrome Now", try that. It'll give you more options.

That was a New Years resolution for me years ago too, but auto correct doesn't speak the same language as I do. :p My fat fingers and two finger typing doesn't help, and neither does my poor spelling ability. Do I need more excuses? I can probably come up with more...

    Hello,

There are a ton of computer programs that allow a person to present a perfectly typed paragraph or paragraphs on a word document. Some are free and some cost a little. But, if one types a lot of things, and feels overwhelmed at the typing errors or misspellings, then those programs can help. Some of them are actual programs to install on your computer. Others are available online, such as "Grammarly."

I knew friends that used those computer programs to type letters to businesses plus to friends. It is a good way to get started, despite the two finger typing mode. Gradually, the two finger mode goes to the whole hands with more practice.

Before I got to high school, I took a summer school typing class. Those early typewriters had the keys blacked out and one had to know where the letters were located. Plus, having never typed before made the hunt and peck more challenging. Sitting next to me was my cousin. she was younger, but had the skills. i was amazed at the typing skills she had. On our first practice test, she typed 70 words a minute and had one error. i typed 20 words a minute and had 12 errors. I needed more practice and felt overwhelmed.

She continued on and got an "A" grade at the top student in class. H final tally was 90 words per minute and no errors. My final tally was 35 words per minute and 10 errors. My fingers just could not get going on those blank keys.

Practice makes perfect, or in my case, practice takes more practice. But on those old typewriters, I had to have a round eraser and brush or a pencil style eraser on hand for every paper I had to type. I had a stack of pencil erasers handy when I had to type a "term paper." Eventually, practice did make almost perfect, but, with the advent of computer keyboards and easy backspacing, errors disappear like magic. HA!

Yes, my speeds are way up from those early ribbon typewriters. But, was it worth it? Definitely... just keep plugging away and eventually your brain and fingers can type something without having to look at the keyboard...YRMV

    Note:
The newer programs are AI, so that may be a downfall for most folks.

The letters are printed on my keyboard, or I would be screwed. My fingers are almost as large as the letter buttons, so often I get two letters from 2 keys instead of one, I use the backspace button a lot! This particular keyboard does not capitalize the letters when I tell it to, so I get to correct a lot of that too. Over the years, I've gotten to know where some of the letters are located on the keyboard, but doing the two index fingers sometimes gets me the letter next to the one I wanted. I tend to check my writing at the end of each sentence, having an entire sentence of intended letters one letter to the right or left makes an interesting sentence! Its OK to laugh, I did.

I was trained in auto repair and heavy machine repair, typing is not my thing, I've never taken any course concerning it, and I don't intend to, at this point in my life. I'm afraid that if I took a typing class at my age, I'd really be messed up! As is, I'm getting pretty effective at two finger typing, I can go back in and correct the errors as I'm plugging along, my computer is kind enough to highlight the errors for me (unless I typed in the wrong word). I usually proof read everything I type, but sometimes I just miss some.

I do this stuff because I think I might be able to help someone because of something I have experienced. My adventures in typing helps keep me humble, I have to go back in and fix my screw ups all the time, such is life. Nope, I haven't changed much at all since high school, still fixing the things I've screw up.
