For many years I didn’t understand the difference between a street rod and a hot rod ignorant or naive, I’m just a simple car nut, I like most but not all cars but I do do know the difference now, this site has taught me that I will look forward to this new sub forum, When the clay hardens it tends to crack and break
No it ain't.... it could bring in more folks and really get this place hopping...... Then again, maybe not...

Thanks Ryan. I wandered in there, and appreciate what I have seen thus far. This place is integral to preserving traditional hot-rodding, IMO. I was way into street rods before I stumbled in here. Because of the influence, I re-worked a lot of plans for my '50, to stay in the traditional lane. I have a couple of other cars that will be less traditional, but not to an extreme where other places are more appropriate. (e.g. the current pro-touring trend in the muscle car world). Not that I mind that so much, but there are places to go for those things. There is a bit of a gap online for non-traditional cars/mods that aren't full-on modern builds. I could see this new forum filling a bit of that void.
Wow, lots of excitement about allowing the new group. Trust not all year muscle cars like NSRA has become. Who will be the first to build a 1950 hot rod with an all aluminum LS1? ( a driven, beat on hot rod not a trailer queen street rod ). Since aluminum engines with DOHV 4 value per cylinder were 1st built in the 20’s - I have a GMC 4200 DOHC 4 valve 6 would look great in a little modified ( I could paint Fiat on the valve covers ). And turbo chargers were 1st put on airplanes in the late 30’s & used a lot in WW2. The Germans upped up some planes with a shot of nitrous oxide during the war. Turbos were used on Corvairs & Olds F-85s in 1962. EFI appeared on a few AMC & Mopars about 1957. While people were trying to kill me in nam my father-in-law junked a 1957 Pontiac convertible with EFI (jerk). Search YouTube for the GMC 4200 with turbo & EFI -wow. Final comment: saw a nice early 50s Hudson with original flathead 6 at Carlisle had a turbo mounted. Now he can post on the HAMB. How about a nitrous flathead at the flathead drags? Good times coming.
I think this is fine. And hopefully many will find this a welcoming forum. I however am here for a specific topic and don't see myself using my time to check off-topic posts.
I hadn't thought about the possibility of rat rods... Not my decision, obviously, but I sure hope they still have no place here.
I haven't been there yet.... I'll go when I'm done with this thread.... Hope all the model car threads get moved over there also...
Ryan, I think it's a great idea. My late Dad used to say, "nothing stays the same forever". I will admit that I've felt a little bad on more than one occasion for promptly letting someone know that what they were posting or asking really didn't belong here, even though it might be just off topic by a smidgen. Now, instead of running them off, maybe we can redirect them to the new sub-forum, where they can get the help or advice they need. Win-win. My interest in all things automotive is widely ranging, as is that of many many fellow HAMB'ers. At the end of the day, if it turns into a mess, you can nix the whole idea. After all, you're the boss.
I think it's cool... keep the traditional forums a little more pure, give room for guys to share their other projects. Keeps the core of the site on target, more traffic, more chatter, more community. Just hope nobody we like turns out to be a fuckin rat rodder. And... still no Mustangs!!!
