I know a lot of you are from Tx...what sorta jobs are in that area? I've got almost 20 years experience in CNC and manual machining and FLs low income to debt ratio is kicking my ass, so we are strongly considering moving to Austin (family, party town, hot rods everywhere, and Don Buehler in Houston owes me a nailhead). So if you know of any CNC jobs, drop me a line. Thanks.
Did you get fired again??? Just kidding, of course.. You could come up here, but the hot rod scene is virtually non-existant. -Abone.
Listen, man we are keeping your spot in NC warm for ya.............Quit denying it and just come home..............There's plenty of misery to go around, don't worry nobody got your share just cause you jumped ship....................hahahaha..............................
State taxes SUCK! And I'll never have a hot rod as cool as the boner's fire wagon, so I can't go there.... We're definitely considering going back to the drafty 100 year old house, but only as a last resort (dunno if 'resort' is the right term here). Right now, I think we'll do alright going out to Tx if I can get a decent fucking job.
I'll kick his moldy ass. Does he still have that '33 Coupe he used to drive all over the place? It was peach colored or some shit like that.
Do you want me to get you some contact info of some shops that sponsor our car? They're both around Arlington (right in-between the D and the FW)
El C: Pot....kettle....black. I'm sure we'll move LONG before we work out the details. Root and Flexi, D/FW would probably be ok by my wife's standards (I'm all for it!). We have family in the Austin area, which would make the transition a little easier, but I can stretch it. TxRat, Houston was great when I lived there...which is one of the reasons my wife doesn't want us there now!
You'll probably have better luck in the industrial cities like Houston, DFW, Corpus Christi for machining jobs. I'm sure there's some places in/around Austin but the machinist jobs seem to follow the oil field. Good luck man.
Just find another line of work........ I did. Years ago I was in the machine shop field. Work somewhere like crazy for a year or two, until the contract was met and then out the door you go. Had it happen a few times ( working O/T 50 to 60 hours a week a month before meeting the contract deadline ) and then...NOTHING..... I changed fields.......got in the sign business.... Lot like the machine work........layout and blueprints, and precision but nowhere near the headaches and heartbreaks....worked there almost 30 years and retired.....with a pension.
HA HA HA HA. Dont be so sure about that!!! This place is a ghost town between the Round Up and the Day of the Drags.
May as well..... Why is all motocycle styles in direct reference to hair styles??? Bob-Job(Short back), Chopper(mom which cuts hair), tail dragger(mullet), Cruiser(slicked back), sport(spikey blink 182 style), Street fighter(shaved) I guess the list could go on....
Trike could also be a mullet; Business in the front, party in the rear. Ya know, the only murdersickles I've seen on the road or at shows that weren't your typical outlaw county fat tire gimp wagons were one I saw in the Keys and one I saw in Tampa. A guy I work with has a '26 roadster with a Nailhead, but I haven't seen it (other than pics). He also has a kit bike that he built a year ago...rode it in his neighborhood once. Maybe there's a lot of "collectors" here. On the other hand, DixieDog's got a bike (you can tell it's a rider) and a Chivy truck he NEEDS to finish! Ok, that's all the hot rods in Jax.
Depends on whose playing at the Continental or when you guys are throwing an open house, but yeah it is pretty dead. South Austin Speed Shop needs to do another open house down this way!
