I pick up any single finned aluminum flathead head that I can find if the price is right. I do this because something will occasionally come up to make a set and the singles are usually in very good shape. I just picked up this Offenhauser 8BA passenger side head and as usual it seems to be very lightly used. The only marking I could find on it is this "E" cast in under the water outlet. Please excuse the crappy picture, but for some reason I just couldn't get it to come into focus properly. I don't have much hope that this means anything important, since it is cast in. Does anyone have a clue as to it's meaning?
