    hey folks,
need some help with my intake, just got this motor and i'm not familiar with the setup. its an offenhouser with 3 rochesters on it. the guy made an alluminium adapter to mount the carbs, it seems the intake is for small base carbs ? and the carbs are big base ? the mounting hole pattern on the intake is smaller than the hole pattern on the carbs. what do you think is going on here. is there something out there to adapt these that would look better. or is there another solution. i'll try to post a pic.
    thanks

There was a Offy or Edelbrock on e-bay last week for the large base carbs. They are 1 11/16" throttle blades, you'll need a lot of motor if the venturis are the 1 3/8" . It was a NOS.

Early chevy and Olds used smaller base carbs in 1957 & 58. Pontiac and Cadillac used large base secondary and small base center carbs. Try to locate the early rochester 2G secondary (no choke) and 2GC center carb (with choke). Chevy has fuel inlet on the side. Olds / Pontiac at the front.

so i either need to get small base carbs or a large base intake. you think if i would keep the carbs and change the intake it will be to much ? its just a 350 with a mild cam.

That would depend on what you plan to do with it. The 348c.i. chevy used the small base carbs. So did the 371c.i. Olds.

Change the center carb for a small base and keep the large base secondaries (if they are actual tripower secondaries) and you will be set up like a pontiac. If your engine ends up to be too mild mannered for that much flow, then you can consider changing the secondaries for small base or adjust your linkage so that the secondaries don't open all the way at WOT, just enough to satisfy your engine.
