um the deal is it's chopped , lemme guess it looks like shit raked back like that and you think i should have done it different ,more like everyone else does . i've heard it 1 million and 5 times . i bought the cab and it was already partially chopped 20 years ago and the owner abandoned the project . i hated it too , but the more i looked at it the more i thought , fuck it , is it worth the time it would take to unchop it and look for another donor cab to start over only to end up with a cab that looks more like everyone elses . nope , it wasn't worth it to me . now that ugly ass chop is my favorite part of the truck .

also check out a stock M series stude and notice how heavy the rake was right from the factory. it was a radical rake in comparison to the other pickups of the era.

oh well at least i won't have to worry about someone coming along and offering me a pile o' cash for it ,and tempting me to let it go.

The stock rake on the front window is one of the things that I like about the M series for a long time...it looks more 50's then a 41 to 48...But Studebaker was like that with a lot of their styling.

I've seen pics of the heavily chopped M before and it's alittle more then I would gone, but I agree that it grows on you. I'm still thinking about a 3 or 4 inch section on my cab, but probably going to leave the top as is. The head lights are 37 Studebaker units and I have two 36 Studebaker tail lights for the rear. Still gotta make a bed, since I can't find a Studebaker bed (for a reasonable price).

Now lets talk about that 38 Ford grill....that's what I don't like about this one:D

my cab has about 6 to 8"sectioned out of it,done the poor mans way it had some rot so we cut it off all the way around the cab just above the bottom door hinge and re created the rockers and cab corners ,this was fairly simple cause there were no floors or inner structure at all in the cab . and as far as the 38 ford grill it is kinda like the rest of the truck you either love it or hate it there is no in
between . . that is why i love the grill . i saw it on roger mirets coupe way back when that first hit the scene and had to have one for a future project .

and as far as your bed search ,the plymouths and dodges of the era and some other makes as well had the same bolsters and box sides ,even the same tailgate pattern but they were stamped with their respective name . i see them for sale on occasion and will keep you in mind .mine was rotted and banged up pretty bad and came to me as two sides and a tailgate laying flat with a bungee wrapped around em.

    [IMG][IMG]Mine a 46 chev coupe, master deluxe.

305/th350, yes a mustang II and camaro rear. It also has heat a/c and defrost. Not to mention the 60k+ miles I have put on it in the last TWO years. :D

The car was in such good shape that this is it's second paint job, no rust ever, and it still has the original exhaust from '46, except for the y pipe and cherry bomb.

If the picture didn't load then it's the car in my avatar.
