Here's some inspiration for the Pontiac crowd:

And a reality check for a couple of Chevy addicts...;)

  11. i went back and reread that post. what do you mean you walked by? go get that drum. if it was empty it makes for good garage art. or to scare folks on here. and if it was full theres a whole new kind of fun in store for you.

  12. The results are predictable when a unsuspecting pontiac racer bolts on a set of hemi heads. The rest of the gto cant handle the new found power. X2 when they go on a chevy block. Brutus is one of my all time favorites. 20160311_153251.jpg

On a more "mechanical" note, block is finish honed, crank is in,wind age tray is fitted, oil pan is notched to clear main cap,cam bearings are in,cam is in,timing set is in,cam is degreed, all threaded plugs and/or oiling restrictors are in.
Short block should be pretty much done by Wednesday-ish.
Still a bit of welding to do on the heads, pushrods are ordered, pistons are back from the place that does the thing with the top secret stuff.....lol

Should be complete and making some noise on FJ's dyno within a month. [emoji16]

Tony,is that car the Hot Rod magazine giveaway car from the 1980s?

And RacerX: It's not too often we agree on things, but in this case I'd like to second the motion, and furthermore state that if any man on this thread claims to not harbour even a small amount of love for early GTOs,he is probably only fooling himself.....Cause those cars are daaaaamn fine![emoji16]

This pic was when Lew, in a weak moment, put on some fabbed up Mopar Hemi heads. The power of the rest of the engine destroyed the heads. The next day Lew went to Thompson to get some better ones!!

  26. Scott - not sure where it is now, I traded it for a 37 Plymouth in 1987 and have been on the straight and narrow ever since.

Agree with you there - even in 1984 those were not easy to come by, for good reason I guess.

Haha no kidding I just got out of Uncle Sams Misguided Children's school for boys and was letting my hair grow but the language was still quite trained :D There is another shot where I'm wearing short short cut off jeans .... let me see if I can locate that ;)

  28. the weak moment came when lew didn't replace the turbo trans with a torqueflite. thats a trans explosion in the pic. at the time this pic was taken the racing world had not fully caught on to the 727 being the strongest automatic available. arnies first bad fire was the result of a failed turbo at cordova. by the end of the decade that all changed with the 727 taking its place behind almost every funny car on the planet until the advent of the lenco. as far as the heads if they were that great everyone would have had them. the pontiac heroes of the day your beswicks, gays, tyrees etc stayed away from them. that alone should say something. cool but not better. you can't change history.
