Yea it has a set of Jahns (sp?) pistons the heads have had a lot of work. Aluminum flywheel. All the typical stuff. Stock bore 401.
I had the fuel pump apart. it was locked up from all of the fuel. Ill have to send it back to hilborn and get it flowed and repaired along with the injection.
The Vertex is in the original box and I have the Isky cam tag and a tube full of "pills". Its actually crazy that all of this stuff stayed together for 40 years. It was all in 4 huge cardboard boxes.

Cool truck. I think that one of the Rat Rod Skool Magazines did a feature on this truck, some time back.

OK here are a couple updated pics. Like I said its coming very Slloooww... I have trouble finding time to get anything done. I now have the spindles on and am finishing up getting the rest of the front suspension linked up then a final coat of paint. Hopefully I will have this thing back on its wheels soon.

Not much going on this winter. I just dont have good enough heat to get things going. I did manage to get the front suspension back together and the wheels down and I also went back through the frame rails and touched up some "pits". So now once it gets warm and after the rear is back together, I will re-sand and paint again and then start on the body.

Not too much to report. I was able to finally find the parts I needed to get the rear back together. (wasn't exactly sure what it was) I ve done a lot of small things that you can't see. I had to roll it out so I can start to put a new engine in my Sedan so I'll have something to drive to the Jalopy Showdoan in May. After that I'll get back on the truck. The cab will be next.

    Any updates?

Here's a picture I got from an older friend of mine who's in his 70's, he took this picture at mason dixon dragway sometime around 1964.

Hell, I wish! I had to put it aside for a while to get my "show going" rod back on the road. Just about done then I will start back on the body this winter. Family and money holds me back quite a bit but I am keeping at it the best I can. Stay tuned!

Just in case anyone is still interested, I'm still working on the truck. Actually I've been hitting it pretty hard for the last few months. I have the engine ready to assemble, I'm just waiting on some bearings to show up. Apparently Standard Main bearings are hard to come by. Luckily the truck came with an extra block, and crank (the original was broken due to a blown clutch on its final run 50 years ago) I was able to hone it and hopefully it will hold up for a few passes. all the other parts, Lifters, cam were still in the original block but they cleaned up real nice. I have also rebuilt the fuel pump and Hilborn Injection but I'm sure Ill eventually have to send it back to have it flowed. Not sure yet.
The fuel cell was full of used motor oil but there is a smaller tank inside that held the secret Alcohol! so Ill have to cut the end off of the tank and remove that and see if the main tank is clean enough to use. If not, Ill fab a replica. As soon as I get the engine in Ill start on the cab. I have most of the patch panels I need so hopefully it wont take too long to finish it, but baseball season is getting close and that will eat up my time. I would post photos but with new HAMB I cant figure out how. It sucks IMO. Later!
