    Hello everyone!

Not your typical vehicles for a site such as this however after finding so much useful information posted here I felt it would definitely be worth my while to sign up! You seem to have a lot of helpful, knowledgeable members willing to help each other out. I'm impressed with your wealth of information and online community.

The main reason I began searching for this type of information was my Yukon. What started as a quick fix on a good kid mover has turned in to a body off restoration. I hit the point of no return long before realizing how much was going to be required. No turning back now! Also have 2 other trucks that are about to get an over haul as well. After all of my "research" it became clear that you guys were the authority on what I was after.

I am mechanically inclined and do almost all of my own repairs (once I've finished everyone else's) but have never ventured down thus path before.... Body off restoration is not something I've even contemplated until now. I have most basic tools for repairs. Lots of room in my shop. No hoist. 5 ton chain hoist and a large I beam is what I have to work with.

I'm too the point of having to get the a/c disconnected and the shift linkage to be able to lift the body off the frame. As soon as I figure out HOW exactly I'm going to pull that off. No pun intended haha. My plan is to separate the body/frame and compete the repairs on each separately. Body will go on my trailer while I change the brake lines/fuel lines/headers/A/C system etc etc...sand blast/seal the frame . Then the body work shall begin.

Not having attempted anything like this before I felt a little guidance would go a long way. We shall see. I'm not sure how the site works yet but hopefully its not too difficult to figure out. My first question will be...

Is there a safe way to lift the body off from somewhere other than the bottom? Maybe straps through the windows? I read someone lifted the rear from the tail light holes which would work if safe to do so... need to find out where/how to lift the front up. Rad support an option? Maybe somewhere on the firewall? I'm not sure what to do but am almost to the point of needing to figure it out. I'll find out how to post questions and where and hopefully have some help along the way. I will have questions...lots of questions. Hahaha!

Sorry that was long! I'll try to keep it short and sweet moving forward. Just a little about me and the mess I've gotten myself into.

Not sure where this originated from but Im guessing its not near me in Canada... "eh" . Thank you all in advance! What a Canadian thing to say right LOL

I would imagine the repair and restoration procedures would be the same no matter what vehicle they happened on... However I just read the founders? thread and seems if I don't have a 65 or older something or other I'm not welcome anyway. Seems I was mistaken as too what this was all about. I am definitely in the wrong place. For a whole lot of reason!

I'm sure you'll know how to delete...block...what ever it is you do here and I'll on my way. Lucky for me...and the rest of the world you're information and posts are available to all member or not. I appreciate them taking the time to share their knowledge even if its only to a certain group of people. Us "outsiders" can read the posts anyway so.... I'm about to have a 64 1/2 Mustang...which seems is also not welcome here...lol. My mistake. I don't see why you'd restrict offering help to someone only with your type of vehicle though. Helping is helping BUT not my forum, Not my decision. Sorry to bother you guys. Methinks you be right ahah!

Mustangs are also considered off topic here.

I suggest a few minutes reading the rules might clear up any misconceptions of this site. HRP

    4. We cover traditional '65 and older American cars only. All other threads will be deleted. We don't cover rat rods, muscle cars, mustangs, or VWs.
