Im getting readt to lower my pickup truck the wheels that are on it now is to wide. It will hit the top of my fenders. I have a 4" backspace right now and are 15x7. I want to go with 15x6 how do I figure out what backspace and offset I need. Thanks and happy 4th guys Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I found this to be helpful: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/how-to-measure-your-car-for-proper-wheel-fitment.835576/
So lets look at your current size - 15x7 with 4" back space = fitment issues. A switch to 15x6 with the same 4" BS will move the out side rim lip 1" towards the center and the inside will remain the same place. Should you find 15x6 with 3" backspace - the outer lip will remain the same location as it is now but the inside lip will move 1" away from center . Then the tire size and bulge comes into play. There's a lot of variables there.
31vicky had the answer if he kept going... If you want to keep the center of the tire in the same location, then 4" bsp on 7" is equivalent to 3.5" bsp on 6"
