Just found this and thought you all might get a laugh out of this, sounds so easy. I might just swap one out this weekend. http://www.ehow.com/how_8000756_install-flathead-v8-modela-ford.html
'One of the design features of Henry Ford's assembly line meant that the same parts got manufactured over and over again. In fact, it wasn't until the early 1940s that Model A frames were changed at all. ALRIGHTY...LOL
I think I might challenge myself and put a post 1940 flat head in a Model A frame. That might keep me working all of the way up to lunch! I used to do freelance writing for them. In the beginning they would accept ANYTHING! I mean this is a perfect example. I guess too many people complained, because later it became impossible to please them. I mean they wanted me to write fully detailed (down to the correct socket size and gap) instructions on how to change spark plugs for EVERY engine offered in Dodge pickup trucks. I told them they were insane.
They also have a link titled "How to tell a 360 ford engine from a 390". Basically is says to take the valve cover off and write down any numbers you find on the head...do the same with the block and look up the numbers in an interchange book...if that doesnt' work, tear the engine down and measure the stroke...
If you're going to go through all that, you might as well just pull it out and put in a flat head. I mean it's a lot easier.
I think this one has been taken a bit too seriously by way too many people. http://www.ehow.com/how_2050985_build-rat-rod.html Larry, be strong and fight the temptation.
Hang on what's wrong with a Model A radiator and a flathead? If you add the extra water outlets and clean the block out..
The idea was sold as a simple bolt in. Going to the radiator shop adds a whole new dimension to the process. Plus the instructions didn't even address the issue. I'm sure the core of the A radiator is sufficient, they were built well.
That's a good question...............while we're on that subject, would anyone like a link to my nuclear fusion blog?
Con-fusion. As for the link - maybe that's why 'they' warn us about not believing everything we read on the internet. Maybe 'they' are right.
Methinks there are toooooo many "THEY" people out in the world.Oh shit,I thought everything on the internet was true.
Zip, zip, and it's done! Kinda like do it yourself brain surgery, which the author of the article did before writing that article. KK
