    Man, I dunno...

Olskool's a good guy. He ran into real rodder, and wanted to share with y'all. No - not long on patience, and maybe a little geographically impaired, but a good guy.

Still - a funny thread. Olskool - take a deep breath, man. It'll be alright.

Post #1 of this thread tells a very cool, worthwhile story. Thanks for sharing with us.

Posts #2 & #3 come off as lameass crys for attention, worthy of the sound thrashing that has been administered.

  10. Ehhh, shit I'll throw some Chililogic™ on it here:

#1 Go back for more stories, Frank Mack's '27 is the Doane Spencer of '27 Fords in my opinion. A long while ago, on the HAMB, there was a video of the Mack roadster being thrashed the dragstrip in the late fifties or early sixties. Frank Mack is a real hot rodder. Get pics and share them. Please.

#2 Regarding the OMG in the title: I'll bet that's why he told you the stories. You sound like a good listener.

#3 Regional pride is good, but cars like the Mack roadster transcend all that bullshit.

#4 It's bitchen to see flashes of the old HAMB humor, no bouta doubt it.

#5 (the punch line) Guy like Frank Mack are gone. Won't be long before guys like Ol' School34's friend will be gone too. Believe me, I want to hear what those guys were like. And now that I'm getting deeply into geezerhood, I like it when a guy younger than my kids even knows who Mike, the World's Fastest Hippie, Mitchell was. There are stories about the sixties and early seventies drag racing that are amazing and sometimes hilarious. The role of the storyteller goes wayback in history. It's fun to shoot the kid a poke in the ribs, but try to include the wink that goes along with it.

    2¢ worth if my thoughts.

  14. I definetly knew who Frank Mack was and the car he made famous, just didn't like the impatience & arrogance of the initial posts. Some of you also need to read closer,he was talking to "Earl"who worked with "Frank".Yes,this person probably has some stories to tell of his own,we would love to here them.

  17. I don't know the poster here, but I did know Frank Mack.

He was a pioneer in the Hobby and built one of the most significent Roadsters ever built, and deserves way more respect than this.

Over spring break, I got to see that roadster. It still looks awesome, those E&J headlights sure are bad-ass. The guy that showed me the car said it still had the original paint, can someone verify that?

See... all you had to do was wait (and whine a little). See. I told you.

Thank god someone posted a pic. I know the car, but I never knew who built it.

    Cool.

Olskool took a whuppin on that post. All kidding aside, well not ALL kidding, :D but tell the truth I still get a kick outta shaking Gene Winfield's hand when I see him at the swaps. I can remember seeing him in a lot of mags in the late 50s-early 60s. One of the neat things about wrench heads, most of them stay approachable right on through.

the story was good, deserved better handling from the original poster though - wtf? getting his panties in a twist after less than 30 minutes of posting the original post?

    Spoiled it.

I didn't know who Frank Mack was before this post. What is truly bad, after the way Oldskool handled not getting any attention, I'll probably still not remember him, but will remember the thrashing he got here.

Mark Twain once said "'Tis better to keep your mouth shut and look like a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."

Well, I have no doubt about this - Detroit is on the North Coast of North America! Just like Oklahoma is on the Prairie Coast. ::nods approvingly::
