You need to find a steering box before you step forward right?

  4. Yeah, for the most part. I also need to get up with Chris to get that Dodge axle so I can finish up the fabrication. I am so ready to get this thing done. Got a tranny to rebuild now.

I need to get up with Chris also to give him back the Wheels and pick up the Rear and Drive Shaft form that '53 Olds. Let me know when you are going before doing so. But first on the agenda is stuff around the house.

Seriously, after all this should you be too concerned about preserving the body? Someone would have to be pretty gung ho to un-gasserize this thing. It's SCREAMING for radiused wheelwells.

And, what about a small MGB transmission cooler? Sits in front of the rad, doesn't take up much space. Of course, I don't really know what the hell I'm talking about, just throwing out ideas.

Yeah, I'm pissed you guys went to the Roundup the one year I couldn't go.

  13. i like Andrews version!

  14. I hate you Andrew!!

    Fuck! Now what??

I think I'm just going to lock this thread for a while so you guys don't give me any other ideas.

    Looks great Andrew.

  18. I vote radius! Good job A!! THATS the ticket. Looks more committed. Just save the sheet metal in case it ever goes back to mild, it's just metal, it'll go back together!

  19. Believe it or not, I had a chance to fuck around with the car yesterday.

My friend Chris of Superior Brake and Steer came by our shop night on wednesday and brought along the '39 Dodge axle to see if it would work under the Buick. Well it will work perfectly. So yesterday I bolted up the springs to the axle and slid it under the car and mocked it up. All I have to do is simple mounts for the shackles and the front of the spring. I also have to relocate the spring perches on the axle a little further out. What I like about the Dodge axle is it's a tube axle from the factory which makes installation a breeze.

So when I get back from England I'll get started on the final fabricating.

    I'll be back!

A '39 Dodge tube axle? Off of what? I thought they went to IFS on their cars by '36 and the truck axles were I-beam style axles...I'm confused...

So this post was kind of like a teaser. "I stuck my finger in it, which should satisify her for now and will do more later". You got me breathing hard for nothing. Seriously, Hope you a Heather have a great time in England and we're looking foward to updates when you get back. Here's a hint, when you look like us and travel by air wear nothing but a speedo and flip flops, it saves the time in body searches at the airports.

  22. Wow, what a cool ride! My son and I have been building a 63 Skylark.Great looks and light weight. I have not been able to find a disc brake conversion kit for it. Does anyone have any advise, other than ripping out the front end and installing a mustang set up? We were going to use a sbc with a turbo 350, but the install became to complicated. So we decided on a 4.3 v6 out of an S10. I happened to have a built up 4.3 in the shop. Its small with a lot more horsepower than the 215. By the way, that aluminum v8 that you took out, is worth a pretty penny. Cores go for $1200.00 to $1500.00

Not another belly button in a Buick... YUCK! As for $1200 for a core 215, where? Not here. Hell $1200 is way pushing it for a running motor.

Way to go Ron, you guys have fun on the other side of the pond...

  24. I could have my years screwed up so don't quote me on this. It is the tube axle that has the tube bent instead of straight across between the springs.

Hope that clears up any cornfusion:eek:

As for the $1200 core, nope. I sold my perfectly running 215, 4 barrel for $500 with all the goodies attached. Look around. You don't want to screw around with any other suspension or engine unless you are ready for major fabrication.

Thanks again guys. I'll take pics while I'm in England.
