    The second filthiest spot in the shop!! Your spot is the the catch all for weird things like ladders and misc axles and shit!!!!

    Excited to see it unfold though. Last time you went on a spout with this thing was when Heather left town and you accomplished a shit load in just a week!!! Should be worth the wait to see it in all fours with the front axle under it and the wheels on. Sure has been a long time coming boobs....I think I have gone through 4 cars since you started this haha!!!

  2. I thought that car was just for decoration! Can't wait to see the progress!

    Just a heads up on straight tube axles. I replace the one on my Chevy II a few years back and I went through six axles before I found one that didn't "Smile" when the full weight of the car was applied (BBC with aluminum heads/pump). And this was with semi-elliptical spring setup. Memory fails me on how much camber it would gain,(we measured it on an alignment rack) but it was enough that I didn't want to run them. This was with MAS, Speedway, and a number of those "Instant gasser " kits out there. All were the same size, and construction. The one I used, the guy that made it pushed a flat piece of steel upright through the tube. I would think that the transverse leaf spring would be even worse in terms of deflection. Just figured I'd share that with you....

  5. Guys thanks for sticking with me. I still have a ton of work before it's a driver but I'm back on it until I'm done.

    Here is a few pics of what I have accomplished today;

    I built the spring mount and attached it to the engine cradle. Tomorrow will be radius rods and mounts. Then it will be a true roller. I will have detailed pics when I closer to completion of the front end.

    I may have my cheaters and front runners this week. We'll see.

    Thanks for the cool pic and all that info. I know that there have been a lot of axles that have been trussed due to exactly what you have described. I think your guy built the axle super strong. I like his approach.

    Mo-shit tomorrow. Stay tuned.

    Jeez Ron you MAY have less focus than i do. But as many projects as i do Ok both of those maybe a stretch...

  14. I'm extremely focused when it comes to my business but in my automobile life I'm all over the place.

    Since I started this project I have rebuilt my work truck, brought a '61 Econoline back to life after a 30 year slumber, built my International truck to replace my work truck, built a honeymoon house and got married. A whole hell of alot got done while this poor car just collected dust.

    Now that most of the major projects in my life are finished I can get back to my fun cars. After the Buick is done I can build my Jalopy Model A.

  15. I remember seeing this car at the last year's GG Charlotte open house - I thought it was going to be a cool car then, and I'm excited for you to get to finishing it. I'll check out your progress in person hopefully at this year's GG Charlotte but until then keep the momentum going and the pics and progress comin'!

  16. Thanks Tommy. Are coming down for the Auto Fair?

  17. Well I ordered my tires today;

    [IMG]

    Wasn't quite as productive as I would have hoped for today. Odered tires, fitted my aluminum slots for the rear and they don't fit over the big ass drums so I prepped and painted the stock steel wheels. I was going to build my radius rod mounts today but I need to get a seat of those batwings for the axle end.

    Some pics tomorrow with the tires and wheels, hopefully.

  26. Looks sweet, I can't wait to see it finished... I'd love to do a gasser build with my 63 Chevy II wagon. :) I was going to build a daily driver out of it but now this has me thinking otherwise.
