So I have come across about 2 or 3 flat heads, a 327, 283, and some 350s.... The 327 is my favorite of the bunch. I'm sure it's all stock so tell me what you'd do to it? I would either put it on a stand until I am ready to stick it in my '62 Chevy in front of a 5 speed, or put it in a '64 Chevy wagon build I plan on doing this winter or next summer. What would you do with it? Stocker? Just a cam? Stroke it?? I just want to here you all dream out loud
I'm partial to 327's myself. Did you get all the above mentioned engines? As for the 327, mild cam/headers/adequate induction. Tim
Don't know if I'll bring them home or not. I think I will though. Can't you stick any SBC crankshaft in any SBC to make a different cubic inch? I'm sure it's more complicated than that but...?
Nice try [emoji6] I've got a 283 backed by a 700r4 in my '62 biscayne. She purrs down the high way [emoji3]
Ran the 327/340 hp juice GM cam, worked great! Cranks have diff. brn. diameters, hence the popularity of the small-journal forged crank motors.
A 327 depending on the year could have small or large main journals. If it is a later block with the large journals, you can put a 350 crank in it and then it's just another 350. If it has small journals, you can put a 283 crank in it and make it a 302. But for me, I would leave it as a 327. If you want to build a stroker, use one of the 350 blocks.
