History Oil bath to paper air filters... When did the transition happen for each brand?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 4t64rd, Mar 14, 2014.

  1. Just wondering, which companies were early adopters and who hung onto the old ideas the longest.

I think 1957 was the first year for paper air filters. Everyone switched over right away because they were so much cheaper and made it easier to squeeze the engine under a low hood.

Oil bath filters hung on for heavy duty use in trucks, and were optional for years.
