Hey everyone, I have a 1939 Ford Coupe with a 350 Chev. ( # 397001, 4 bolt main, 1969-80 ) I'm using a Wix 51069 oil filter however the diameter is just small enough to cause a small leak . Does anyone know of a slightly larger diameter filter . I used a dye / UV light to find the leak. Thanks Everyone !!!

That Wix filter is correct for your engine, is it possible that you missed seeing the rubber gasket from the old filter stuck to the block? I did that once and had more than a slight leak

Also check for scratches and gouges where the filter screws on the block and seals.

I left the old rubber on once, double gasket, it sounds like someone vomiting, then by the time you can say"what the hell?", you got about 3 quarts on the floor

There are other places that oil will come from. The oil filter to block seal on those engines never causes a problem unless you leave the gasket on, or there's some crap between the gasket and filter, etc. There's only one diameter, although there are a few different lengths.

so look for other places that could be leaking, valve covers, rear seal, rear cam plug, rear oil galley plugs, block plug under the edge of the head, oil sender, oil pan, intake, gage sender/light switch, etc.

Oil pressure gauge line/sender port is bad about leaking and running down the drivers side of the block making you think the oil filter is leaking. Seen this more times than I can remember.
