1952-59 Ford Oil filter gasket

Hi!!
How do you maintain the big oil filter seal while screwing it??
in my 223 engine L6 !!
A special technique???

Place the gasket in position using some Permatex around the perimeter, let it set and then screw on the canister.

 

Grease on the seal to hold it. You don’t want to make it too hard to get off on the next oil/filterchange.

 

Grease is probably the best thing.
