Hi Gents. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Needless to say, I neglected to get the one I really needed before dismantling the 48 engine to rebuild and now its time to hook the lines back up and I could use some help deciphering where the connections should go. Based on my vague photo i am assuming the filter inlet line (black non steel braided) connects at the bottom of the block just in front of (towards the radiator) the oil pump at the flared fitting. It appears from the second photo, if enlarged, you can see this and also that the steel braided outlet line connects at the rocker box cover. If someone could tell me spot on or show me that would be great. The manuals don't even mention the oil filter. see attached photos and thanks in advance! Bob G
The bottom is the inlet, fed from the oil pressure gauge "T" with the restriction in that hose. Outlet dumps back to ????
Can you use one of the fuel pump flange bolts ? A '41 GMC 228'' I had used a hollow bolt in the front for discharge.
If you can look up ACCESSORY INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS for your oil filter, you'll find what goes where. Not in the manual because it was an accessory.
