Oil Filter Measurement

I need the OD of an oil filter gasket.

As an example the common Fram Ph8a is just under 2 1/2".

I need the next size up filter measured, but not over 3" OD.

 

Pretty sure that the paper WIX catalogs had that info. Might try checking at your local NAPA, their's might have it too.

 

What'cha makin'??

I don't know if this helps you but,most racing oil filters have a thicker and taller rubber seal than the street filters. I can measure some at work.

I have a NAPA Gold 1258 filter here that is used on the common Pontiac V8s, the filter gasket O.D. is 2.830".

The filter can is 3.675" in diameter and 4.450" tall.

Another one I have is the NAPA Gold 1522 that fits my 2002 Trans Am LS1 5.7, gasket is 2.775" O.D.

The filter can is compact, 2.940" O.D. X 4.600" long. The standard-size filter for this engine is shorter, but I run the longer one.

Looking for a rubber gasket with square cross-section for an aluminum screw on gas cap.

I 'had' a flush aircraft cap on the 32, fueled up and left it on the sail panel (between trunk and rear ****pit rail.
It fell off in the street.
Noticed it gone 60 miles from home.

Went back and found it crushed and broken in the gutter.

Ended up making a new filler w/cap etc. using a Fram PH8a size gasket on the cap/tube juncture.

So that's done and now I'm looking for a slightly larger diameter gasket.
An O-ring could be used here, but the oil filter gaskets are excellent in this application and also in remote filter adapters.

Makin' an aluminum flip cap for the 31 on 32 rails roadster's fuel filler.

Looks like the Pontiac may do it.
