I'm putting together a 331 SBF. I am thinking of running an aftermarket oil pan. I like the idea of extra oil capacity, and baffels- to keep the oil where it is supposed to be. I am looking at 3 differnt companies:
    Milodon: http://milodon.com/oilpans/pg06.htm #30925,
    Moroso: http://moroso.com/catalog/categorydisplay.asp?catcode=11908 #20502,
    Canton: http://www.cantonracingproducts.com/pans/road_race/ford_front_sump.html #610.

Has anyone had experiance with any of these companies? WHich offer the bigest bang for the buck? Or are they all pretty close?

What kind of pump suold I run with one of these pans? Stock? High volume? or High pressure?

I have used Moroso pans on a couple BBCs.

I like the ones with the built in windage screen and s****er as well as the baffle, trap door and extra capacity.

you can feel the difference in the way the motor responds, much quicker,

    definitely worth it.

I use the high volume pump with a Moroso pickup to match the pan.

here's a surprisingly crusty old picture of one of them [IMG]

'think I'll clean it up and use it.

Ford Motorsports makes an alum. pan and they are cheap
I have seen them discussed on "vintage" Mustang sites

    Milodon $169.95
    Moroso $206.99
    Canton $225.00

60's, the windage tray is built into the pan? The ones I have seen bolt to the main studs. Are there tabs that it bolts onto inside of the pan?

    a/fxcomet,
it's actually welded to the pan, it may not be as eficient as the regular ones but it does make a big difference.

Has anyone had any experience with "flathead" oil pans?

I need to shorten the sump (ground clearance) on my flathead. I have looked into "dry sump" systems, but they get expensive.

I have a windage tray (mounts off main bearing cap bolts) and a sump kit (have NO idea from who or where it came from) to increase the capacity (extends oil pan sideways).
