I haven't looked real close at all the posts but I need to ask is it a high volumn or stock pump? reason I ask is that I have had high volumn pumps **** the a stock pan dry and had to go to a larger pan. I did notice that there is a lot of back and forth on the clearance between the pan bottom and the pick-up. So I will throw my number into the fray. I usually set my pick-up 1/4" from the bottom of the pan unless I have literature that says different. I have found brand new pick-up tubes with a crack in them, when the oil is still thick it doesn't make much difference but once the oil thins out a bit they will **** air. When the pan is full if it is above the crack everything is fine then the pan empties out a little and the crack becomes exposed again and ****s air again. Then it drains back and catches up with itself and bam oil pressure.
PorkN******. This is a stock volum & pressure pump. Far as I could see, they dont make a HV pump for this six. My pickup screen clearance is 1/2" away from the bottom of the pan, which was suggested by my trusted garage. Thanks for your info.
Hey 4TTRUK I can see your point about thread sealer preventing a quality connection to the motor block. Of course this only effects folks who are using an electric oil pressure sending unit. I am using a mechanical unit, so I dont need to worry about that. I am using thread tape and made sure that it is not blocking the oil p***age. Thanks for your input.
Cool man. Glad to get that kind of back up! I decided to only run the Bradd Penn. - It is 100% American oil. - It has the right amount of ZDDP. - It is no more expensive than Valvoline Racing, Joe Gibbs, or Royal Purple. - It seems to be carried by local garages and quality shops (in my area) so I'm helping out the guys who know and who care. - I dont have to think when I change my oil. I just pour 4 quarts and swap the filter. DONE. No mixing, measuring or fooling with additives. Thanks.
