Technical oil types

    has anybody run synthetic oil in their old cars and trucks??? I found some Castrol synthetic yesterday says it has extra zinc for wear protection. just not sure about synthetic, don't know much about it. it has an sl api rating.

    Would not use syn. oils in old cars ,most likely you will find new oil leaks. And old cars do not like extended oil change intervals, a big selling piont with the syn. stuff.

    I looked at this site and read the oil university section, very interesting info, the question is, is it accurate or is it voodoo witch doctor stuff??? Seems like good info, but why would so many deny that info?? I have read many articles from different people on here that talk about what oil to run and not run, api ratings and such, as well as levels of zddp, which the article seems to dispute. I wonder what others have to say and where further info could be obtained to back up this article???
