I'm thinking about switching from synthetic oil to a synthetic blend in my 255 flatty. I've heard that it may eat seals and gaskets, but I've also heard that it won't hurt anything. You all have any thoughts or expierience with this? Thanks.

Why synthetic oil why not just use reg oil. I had just found out from my dad that oil today is not the same that it use to be. He says that there is a chemical that they use to put in the oil that helped with friction.
I thought that oil was oil but the oil manufactures don't put this chemical in the oil any more because most of everything now days is all roller cam but some oil manufacturs still use this chemical. It's used in auto racing oils. I don't know what the chemical is called. but you might want to do some reserch first.
