  3. I would say cam bearing are suspect, just from past experiences.

A little update. Been away from the 327 for a while. I finally jumped in there and removed the roller lifters. Boxed them up, sent them back to Howard's . They called today and said they were sending me a new set. I asked if there was something they saw, they said no. They just didn't want to hold me up if there was an issue. I should have them by the weekend and the madness can start again.

I suspect they did find a problem. It shouldn't take them more than a few minutes to test. They just don't want to admit it.

Reminds me of an engine the owner got from a machine shop already assembled. Cranked it to start it and it stopped. Turned it backward and it stopped before it made a quarter turn. Pulled it out and the guy took it back to the builder who accused us of dropping something in it.

The owner stayed there while the guy pulled the heads and didn't find anything. The builder told him it must have fallen out but the engine turned over with the heads off. Then he decided to look at the rod bearings taking the rods completely loose from the crankshaft. The owner wasn't sure but he thought the builder turned the rods around and reconnected them. He had the pop up pistons installed backwards but didn't want to admit it.

There is a plug under the rear main cap that sometimes get left out on the reassembly.

I agree with Howard's just not admitting there IS an issue. At least they are standing up for their products!

Got the new lifters today. It's interesting, there is a very detailed set of instructions for adjusting the lifters. The first set had no instructions at all.

  13. Is there anything different about the method you used to adjust versus the written instructions?

Not really. It's just interesting that they are super specific about thread pitch etc, for the amount of flats on the nut vs pitch etc.

  15. How did it turn out, Roothawg? Is the 327 making noise?

It's on the back burner. Working on another OT project for my dad. I'll get back on it, but since the Produce truck is mobile, this engine is basically for a future project.
