Well when my grandma had the chrome to the 53 taken in, she had one of her neighbors who claims he is a car guy help her out taking the chrome off...well the middle piece on the trim that goes around the grill (as you can see in the pictures) was bent and broken. The guy appologized but now i need the piece. I have been looking around trying to find the piece online and other places. should have just come here first.

so, does anyone have this piece that is in pretty good shape that I could buy?? Doesnt have to be pretty, i can polish it up if i need to.

or anyone have some advise if there is a way to fix this one and make it look good??

Easy fix. Just straighten the parts so they fit together properly, then take to a welding shop have have them TIG welded together. Any competent welder can do it. Polish the stainless and put it back on. Pizza cake!

Or... you can buy one of the two listed on eBay right now.

Yeah, any welder can get it welded back together, if they're good at it.

I'll look for my stainless piece, dad may have thrown it away, but Im not 100% sure. I'll look back in the garage when I get home tonight, and first see if I've got it, then see if its the same as yours (I think it is? that center bit anyway.)

You should be able to fit it or find another one .
Sad thing for someone to do that to somebody else's car like that .

I FOUND IT! That took about 90 seconds including the walk downstairs to my room where i keep the car books, model cars and record collection. It was such a novel thing to have on the shelf I hate to get rid of it. I've had that piece for over 30 years.PM me and I'll see about getting it to you.

Yeah! I'm sorry man, really wish I did have it. If carnut doesn't come through, I will ask around for you, but carnut seems like a good dude, and will probably get it to you.

The fun part of having a frenched grill surround is that I didn't need to fix any of that!

I'm having trouble sending messages because i'm not very smart with the computer. Anyway the part is NOS and still in the original box. Its a GRILLE OPENING PANEL JOINT COVER ***Y. B3A8221-A. I'll let you know about price tomorrow when I get my daughter to help me with this and I find out shipping costs. It should be cheap.

Hey 53 Vicky...... I went to see if the parts car I found would be willing to give up that trim piece.... well the owner after knowing that I wanted it set a huge price for it $30!!!! So he still has it..... There were many great parts on it but the guys turned out to be a jerk, so he will be left alone with his cars. I tried.....
