OK: How About a POSITIVE HARBOR FREIGHT Thread???

Got one of their 1000 lb hydraulic lift tables for Christmas. Works great.

 

There is no denying that you can pay a lot more and get tools from Snap On, MAC, and other companies, but for the money HF sells some pretty good stuff for us guys who are hobbyists and who do not want to spend a our kid's college fund on some hand tools.

It seems to me that HF is trying to get some better quality tools in their lineup, and like everything else, you have to pick and choose what you get there. My Son Dan bought himself one of their rolling tool carts recently, it was normally $299 but was on sale for $ 159 with a coupon. After we put his together I was so impressed with the quality I went there and bought one for me. It holds every tool I need to do most jobs, the wheels are really big casters that roll easy, and the drawers are ball bearing. This thing is huge and holds 700 pounds of tools and is really solid.

You can buy cheap wrenches, screwdrivers, etc to put in small tote bags and put one in each of your cars. Leaving your good stuff at home. Most of their items depend on how often you use them. I have had pretty good luck with what I've bought. I never go there without coupons though.
Funny story: about 5 years ago I had some extra cash so I bought a whole bunch of stuff. Some of which I haven't even used yet. Well about 2 years ago I used the saw-saw from there for the first time. It moved very slowly so I took it back. Of course I didn't have a receipt, but they gave me another one anyway. I got home and this one was also moving slow. Then I noticed this dial that if you turn it the saw goes faster. Kinda hate to tell this story but I hope everyone gets a good laugh at my expence.

 

I bought one of these a few years ago fully expecting it to fail. Still cuts clean and saves tons of time over hand shears. I'll buy another, if this one ever goes tits up.

I also buy the cut off wheels. A stack of ten for what you'd pay for three or so in the hardware store.
