  2. I ****in found it.

the rodders journal #26 starting on page '82. Showcases a series of articles of from Hot Rod magazine starting in May of 11954 about an AV8 built in Colorado during that time period.

Guive me a minute to see if i can make my scanner work and I will try and get a picture or two. beautiful car and a perfect example of a home garage built AV8.

OK my scanner isn't big enough to get you the big pictures all I can suggest is that you beg borrow or steal a copy of this particular rodders journal. You will not in the least be disappointed and learn a lot as well.

AV8 is traditional. An A with a flathead. What else is there to know. SO, you guys with all the billet and OHVs and disc brakes and two pedals and 9"ers .........don't qualify. I think Bishop/Tardel pretty much wrote the book.

  4. I dont need to ask anybody i know they didnt come with a v8. everybody knows the V8 didnt come out till 32

What I know is that Abraham Lincoln invented the LED tail light in 1939 and put them on his new line of cars.

    Wow, is that so... :D:D:D

  8. you guys are pulling my leg right

  9. all model As come from the factory with a flat head 4 cylander. any model a that you see with a v8 has been modified or hotrodded

  10. Actually Tardel isn't that old, my Ol' Man pretty much wrote the book. ;)

OHV rods were around when Tardel started out and if you read what he has to say about it or talk with him he will tell you that he raced flatheads because they were cheap you could blow it up on Sunday and be back at it the next weekend.

Tardel is sharp and that is a fact, no one that nearly any of us know personally will know any more or even as much about building a traditional rod than he does. But neither he nor Bishop wrote the book on it they are just a chapter in the book. Hot rodding as we know it is the culmination of a whole lot of people trying a whole lot of different things over a very long period of time and a very vast expanse of realestate. A lot of people were doing there own thing and didn't have a clue that anyone else was even involved other then the the guy maybe one county over. Hell Tardel was just one county north of us and we did things entirely different than he did. It is just the way that it was or is.

  11. That would be a GayV8.

  12. I actually understood that, but I am goofy.

I wonder if one was so inclined if they couldn't find a factory A with the first of the V-8s in it. Maybe not sold to the general public but a sort of a concept car, that because of manufacturing constraints never happened.

The a gayV8 would be rainbow colored wouldn't it? Kind of a '70s looking thing.

  13. when people get silly like this is when post get shut down.

  14. Nope this is the kind of sillyness that gets a thread shut down.

Actuallly it is drama that normally gets a thread shut down, goofyness is just a way to bring us away from the drama and back toward discussion. Everyone laughs and tends to forget that they hate each other for long enough to get back to the problem at hand.

Hey while I am thinking about it no one goood or gawd over my pics and I looked real hard for the article too. I am really hurt.

  20. I was kidding of course. I always thought an AV8 was a pretty straight forward concept, apparently not.

I wonder.. Did anyone build a AV12 back then? Pre-war, of course.

I'm thinking probably not unless the rich boy in the mansion wanted to be better than all those stinking backyard mechanics.
